Grammie & Grandad have been getting ripped off in the visiting department ever since hockey season started up again. Sunday night dinners have become just about impossible so we've tried a few workarounds but they miss us coming up and eating their food, making a mess at their house and traumatizing their pets with our dog. Luckily there was no hockey stuff for March Break and the girls had a chance to go for an extended sleepover!
Mum picked them up on Tuesday morning and we just went to pick them up tonight! They went for walks on the trail, had a visit to the library, worked on a stained glass kit, watched movies, read books, played iPod games and there maaaaaaaaaaay have been a few snacks involved... in other words, a GOOD time!
They weren't the least bit anxious to get back or homesick at all!
They had to do a family photo while play The Game of Life! Grammie used her handy dandy iPad to capture this lovely family!
When did hot chocolate become a whole meal? Oh yeah, since Grammie. :)))

Clay Commotion
Talk about a ruckus! I was making supper last night when things went nuts downstairs! There was general mayhem and screeching that could have raised the roof! This isn't unusual so we usually let them have it out and step in if it gets out of hand. After awhile Honey & Sweetie came upstairs, visibly upset, tear stained cheeks and the whole nine yards. Murray came back with a report, everything had erupted over a clay figure that Lovey had made. Sweetie said she thought she might have been holding the clay bird and that the beak might have fallen off accidentally and that she forgot to tell Lovey it had happened. Apparently the beakless wonder had been discovered by Lovey and a fury like no other came over her and she flew into full banshee mode and that's when the screaming and yelling and throwing started. She decided she'd destroy THEIR clay animals and sent them flying around the room and proceeded to carry on like that for much longer than I'd have expected. It was at least half an hour but not quite an hour I think. We knew there would be no talking to her or reasoning with her so we decided to let her rage herself out. She passed out on the couch from sheer exhaustion I think but lasted through much of our supper! When she woke up she was calmer and went right to bed.
Pre teen is taking a toll on us, heaven help us when they're all full blown hormonal!!!

Messin' Around
I've avoided most craft activities for quite awhile now. The mess drives me bonkers and they usually get antsy about their project when I can't help all of them right when they need me and the whining starts or they attempt to do more than they can really manage and ruin their project and get upset or they fight over the supplies. Oh, and did I mention the mess???
Lovey saw a craft idea in her magazine awhile ago and I've been dodging it trying to get supplies for it. Yesterday was grocery day and she pinned me down Sunday night, when she realized it was grocery day eve. I fell right into the trap too.
L: Mumma? is it Sunday night?
K: yes Lovey, it is.
L: well, then can you put breadsticks and licorice on the grocery list for tomorrow?
K: of course! (gah! busted!!)
Having no evasive manoeuvres left, I bought the requested items and after lunch I could delay no longer. I got out all the stuff and braced myself for the utter chaos to begin. It started off mildly but it didn't take long for things to take a sloppy turn. Icing, sugar sprinkles, bread crumbs, licorice bits, thumb prints, icing smears, sticky chairs but amazingly enough, no one got anything in their hair! I was still frazzled by the sugar bits that I knew were on the floor, getting stuck on their socks and no doubt traipsed through the rest of the house. There may have been a short period of me yelling GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!!!! NOOOOOOO! TAKE YOUR SOCKS OFF FIRST, NOT THERE IN THE SUGAR PILE!!!!!!
But other than that, the fairy wand craft was a huge success. Now who is going to eat all these???
They loved making the "fairy" wands although Sweetie got bored after a couple and moved on to play something else while we finished up. She got distracted in the middle of one of hers and I looked over to see her taking a bite out of hers!
