Pretty good week! We kept busy and had something going on every day and that makes a big difference for all of us.
Monday started out pretty slow, just hanging out at home. Then after lunch it was just gorgeous out so we got dressed & went for a walk down to the farm. I was just going to drop off some egg cartons (they have egg laying hens & use the cartons to sell the eggs) that I'd been saving. When we got there, Tulip (one day older than our girls) came out to play & we all went sliding on their hill. I was a little nervous about Lovey being just in her panties for such a long time but decided if I had to wash her snowsuit it wouldn't be the end of the world. Over 2 hours later we got home, barely in time to make supper!
Tuesday morning we had music class and enjoyed that. Afterwards we went on a little road trip and visited some friends from the local multiples group who have 3 yr old twin girls, C&J. We had lunch and played with all their fascinating and never before seen toys then raced back for supper.
On Wednesday we had our favourite activity: PLAYGROUP!! After playgroup, C&J came for lunch with their mom & spent the afternoon playing at our house. Yvonne & I got to have a good chat. It's sooooo much easier to pay attention to company now that the kids will play by themselves a bit.
Then on Thursday I took the girls to a workshop put on by speech language pathologists to check on their development. They had no concerns but suggested I keep an eye on Lovey who seemed a bit quiet to them. I guess they've never caught her rendition of Away In A Manger which she blares out at the top of her lungs! They tried to do a hearing test on her but she didn't like the earplug thingy and kept wiggling so they couldn't get a reading. Anyway, nice to know everything's ok in that department. On the way home from the workshop, we decided to drop in on Old Nanny who we haven't been able to see much this winter. She was going through chemotherapy for quite awhile & couldn't be exposed to the germ warfare my kids were constantly carrying around. She's been doing great & the kids seemed to be fairly cold-free so we went for it. It was just a quick visit and the girls were nowhere ready to leave there when the half hour was up and her tax prep guy arrived for their appointment. I had to drag them away from the baby dolls & accessories she keeps on hand! We got home, had some lunch & then went outside for an hour or so. I whipped them through a quick bath and then popped in a movie so I could get supper going.
I was a little unsure whether Mumma would come in to town today or not with the messy weather coming but she couldn't resist (woohoo!) and got here around lunchtime. I ran out & stopped at the scrapbook store to register for the next crop & stopped to get groceries. Mum kept them busy with new Diego lunch boxes that came with a notebook, pencils, stickers, erasers and a sharpener. They thought they were in school heaven!!! LOL They dragged those around allllll day!
Lovey's made an interesting development. The good news is that she's all done with diapers. The bad news is that she SHOULDN'T be!!! She has been doing really well in the daytime with accidents becoming more and more rare. At night she was wearing a pull up but won't even do that now. The first couple of nights we tried to take her to pee before we went to bed ourselves but found that she wasn't necessarily WAITING for us! After changing her bed a couple times a night, we started taking her to the potty more often, every hour and a half & then again if we wake up in the night ourselves. Last night we managed to keep her dry but it must be messing her up sleepwise to keep getting disturbed like that. Hopefully she'll figure out how to control things herself soon. It's very exciting to have only one kid to buy diapers for. Big difference in cost, that's for sure. It's almost like having a singleton....
Everyone's coming down with colds now so the next few days should be interesting!
