Pre Bedtime Road Race

Another evening of craziness! Murray and I just looked at each other at supper over the din and said "going for a walk!" They were so caught up in their out-talk-each-other contest that they couldn't even concentrate on their dinner. We had pretty much finished but they weren't getting anywhere at all so we threw their sneakers on and took off. I thought a good walk might do the trick but those little turkeys wanted to RUN! I was out of breath trying to keep up! We went all the way down to the main road and back.
Where do they get their energy????????

Frog Hollow

Another Sunday walk! We're not sure where the girls are getting the energy, but since they started school they've been extra rambunctious and loud! Everyone told me they'd be totally wiped now that they're in school all day but I'm not seeing that. As far as I can tell, the bus driver has to be slipping them some 5 Hour Energy just as they come down the road. Either that or they're just exploding after keeping tight rein on their ridiculousness all day. We reap allllllllll the benefits :)

Soooooo we try to do more activities and run all that P&V right out of them. The intensity level they can maintain makes my head spin! Every night is a talkathon and the only way they think they can win is to raise the volume and if anything goes wrong (and by "anything" I obviously mean big, important stuff like not being able to find your flip flop charm bracelet after you've been tucked in for bed) the dam bursts and the excited, frenetic energy is channelled into waterworks and screaming as their world comes apart at the seams.

We went exploring in the woods so the girls could show me the frog puddle they'd found on their last trip. We watched them a long time but the girls hadn't worn their boots so it was tricky to keep track of the frogs while standing on the periphery.

Eventually one strayed too close to where I was crouched, waiting and I scooped him up. The girls were amazed at this highly skilled capture! Honey didn't want to hold it but Lovey & Sweetie wouldn't leave the poor thing alone and I eventually had to rescue him after too many squeezes turned into eye poking...

Murphy was completely oblivious to their presence and kept tramping through the puddle, stirring up the mud and making my tracking efforts rather tricky.

and of course we had to give it a try & see if Prince Charming would show up and hand out any True Love's Kisses.

Unfortunately he must have been busy with some other damsels in distress or something because he never showed.

See? there's no tiring them out! LOL

Cinderella Action

The girls are a little wild when they get home from school. Apparently there's a lot of pent up energy just waiting to come busting out the minute they get in the door. The volume of their chatter is unbelievable, they're tripping over their words to tell their stories about who got in the thinking chair in their classrooms that day (mostly the boys so far). They race around the house from one thing to another and remind me of the pinballs when you hit the right targets and get the "multiball" bonus. Their moods flare from giddy to angry to tears at the drop of a hat. It makes my head spin just trying to follow it all never mind manage it or control a single thing!!!

The bus is still running a bit late. They're supposed to be home around 2:30 but it was around 3:30 a few days but the last few have been closer to 3pm so it looks like it's getting better. When they get home they are usually hungry & thirsty. I think they miss their toys and stuff now that they're not home as much because they just start playing when they get here and haven't asked for tv since school started (except on the weekend).

On Wednesday afternoon, they got on their dresses and pretended to be Cinderella doing chores in the house. They told me I could have the day off, take some vacation and relax while they did the cleaning. If it sounds too good to be true....

I went to check email and the cleaning got out of hand! There was water everywhere but they enjoyed themselves, worked together and didn't have any fights!

Anyone interested in hiring my cleaning crew, they work for beans :) but you get what you pay for!!!!!!!

Here We Go Again...

Do I have to keep all household scissors under lock & key or what? Now Sweetie's joined the "CYOH" club. *sigh* She's never ever wanted bangs so I wasn't worried about her doing it. Anytime I've been trimming her sisters' bangs, she immediately checks in "You're not going to cut MY hair are you?????? I don't want BANGS!!!"

But alas, the self stylin' diva mode struck yesterday and voila....

I don't think it looks too bad but we'll see what happens at school today when everyone else sees it. She's rather excited as she thinks it makes her look just like Honey, especially when it's wet and brushed out straight.

Another Beach Weekend

We got one last visit in at the beach and I think we've had our last swim this year, at least our last warm one. We might we get really brave when we go back for the big Thanksgiving family dinner but we'll see about that. I'll pack bathing suits, but no promises!

This was our last night at the cottage and the girls got dressed up so I could take some pictures and they had the time of their lives! It was close to sunset when we left and they were so excited to run down to the main beach, follow the paths in the grass and jump back out onto the sand. They kept talking about what an exciting adventure they were on.

Lovey came back and told Grampy it was the best cottage day EVER.

Auntie KK kept Heidi busy with Murphy's kong, it's the envy of all the dogs :)

The waves were a LOT of fun on our last day, the wind had picked up which made it a bit chilly but the extra surfing action was fun. Lovey isn't touching bottom in this shot, the wave lifted her right off her feet.

If that's not the embodiment of fun, I don't know what is!

Karen & I were in the water, bobbing around in the waves for almost 2 hours when finally the chill had worked all the way through.

Family photo op! Thanks Karen :)))

oh look! Us again! :)))

the sky was amazing and we're not usually there this time of year so it was weird to see the sun setting in the "wrong" place LOL
more racing, running & tearing across the sand

except for being a bit too bright, I love this shot with her dress in the breeze so very "childhood summer" ish.

when we got back I bribed them into a quick pj change by promising the ultimate treat, SPARKLERS!!!!!!! Nancy & Karen had a blast standing together and fusing theirs. I'd never seen such a boring display of firepower but the smile on Nancy's face is indisputable, they're having the time of their lives too!

The girls weren't having any of that and ran around waving theirs, drawing shapes, spinning and twirling. Although their display was a little more dynamic, it was definitely a LOT scarier!!! Luckily no one burned down a forest or impaled an eyeball!
