Heard In Conversation

Tonight at supper we were asking the girls what they did at recess, who they played with etc. Apparently there are 2 or 3 boys who like to chase the girls, especially Honey. Today they didn't find her but quite often they do. I thought I'd give her a tip!

Me: Honey, when they come chasing you, turn around & face them and say "ok boys, here I am, come get your kiss!" , then pucker up and they'll be grossed out and Mr. E will run away.

Lovey: oh no he won't! He's the type of boy who would say "ok then! go ahead and do it!"

Homework

Today's homework was to do 10 minutes of exercise/activity. We started off with skipping but Honey couldn't do it as well as her sisters and she got cranky! She was so annoyed! She refused to even give it more than a half hearted/lame attempt. She'd throw the rope over, let it land in a heap and say "SEE!!!!! I CAN'T do it!!!!!!!!!!!". I told her to pick something else but she was adamant about being bad at skipping and wouldn't budge at first. Up til today, no one could really get much momentum or distance with their ropes but suddenly it seemed to click for Lovey & Sweetie and they were able to run around the driveway and keep the rope going.

After awhile they got tired of skipping and changed activities and then Honey was on board to get the homework done! Lovey grabbed her scooter, Sweetie got a shoelace, made a seat belt and strapped Bunny into the wagon & Honey got on her bike. The rest of the homework went well and we got well over the required 10 minutes done!

It was Sweetie's turn to stay home today. She was running a temp of 103 yesterday afternoon and evening. It did come down a bit after some Tylenol but she was sick to her stomach half an hour later. She slept all afternoon and woke up for a bit late in the evening but went back to bed when I did. There were no incidents during the night and she seemed fine today so I'm hoping that's the end of it for her! I was exhausted and feeling a little queasy and ended up sleeping for a few hours while she played and watched tv so I might be next on the flu list! but I really really hope not!

Three for School!

Honey recovered and was able to do day 2 of grade one! She was so happy to get ready & be able to go.

Here's the gang! All in grade one except the 2nd from the left. She's in her last year of elementary school now!

Unfortunately it turns out we aren't completely done with the flu. Sweetie was running a temp of 103 today and slept most of the afternoon and into the evening. So far she's only gotten sick once and maybe that'll be the end of it..... (well I can HOPE can't I????)

In other news it's my dad's birthday today! Hope you had a great day Dad and we're looking forward to the party on the weekend!

Grade One!

The girls started grade one today! Well, most of them did anyway :( Poor Honey Bunny. She woke up several times in the night last night, sick to her stomach. Each and every time, she asked if I thought she could still go to school in the morning. When she was still making trips at 5:30am I didn't have the heart to tell her that she would have to stay home.

The other two were lightning quick getting ready this morning! Ate, dressed, made beds, teeth brushed and hair done in an amazingly short amount of time with not a single fit. If I hadn't seen it myself, I'd call me a liar!

While the other two were at school, Honey slept in awhile. Then she got up and was able to eat a bit. We curled up on the couch and watched Hannah Montana together. To celebrate the beginning of grade 1, we baked a cake (any excuse will do around here!). After lunch we made a quick run to the grocery store and then picked up her sisters from school.

Sweetie & Lovey both had a good day and were excited to be back. They all had homework on the first day but pretty easy stuff. Unfortunately Lovey got stressed out with hers and was in tears. She was supposed to tell us about 2 new friends she made at school today and got all upset because she didn't really "make" any new friends. I suggested she just tell me about 2 people who weren't in her class before but this just made her cry more as I clearly wasn't understanding what the homework said and it went downhill from there. Heaven help me as the assignments get more involved!!!!!!!!!!!
