We had our first trip to the beach on the weekend and the sunshine managed to avoid us completely! On our last night there, we went down to the water anyway but it had to be the fastest trip on record. We didn't get far from the stairs before everyone was freezing, even with fleece coats under their rainjackets!
Despite the weather, we all had a great time and the girls were very excited to see their friend who lives down the road from the cottage. I sent her a message to tell her we were there and she replied very quickly with "I know! I saw you go by!!" and she squeezed in some time to come visit the girls while we were there. Lovey was in the middle of balking at her dinner vegetables when G knocked on the door. I never waste an opportunity and told her she wasn't allowed to go see her guest until she got her vegetables down. Mind you we're only talking about one slice of carrot and a pea or something like that. I've never seen the kid move so fast, she slammed those into her mouth, chugged some milk to wash them down and was out in that kitchen like a shot. Remind me to always invite G over at suppertime!!!
We also got to spend lots of time with Mr Bojangles and he kept the girls hopping with various games and playtime. He & Lovey had a secret hideout under the stairs and I was checking them out when he firmly admonished me "This is a secret hideout. NOT a peek in whenever you want hideout!!!!!!!" On Sunday morning when his dad woke him up to hit the road for home & hockey school he lost his mind! and this kid LIVES for hockey school. He was so upset and yelling "I don't WANT to go to hockey school!!!!" I'm sure he had a great time when he got there and Grampy says he slept well that night when they got back to the cottage!
I got to go into the city with Karen & Mandy to watch "Something Borrowed". It was sooooooo good!!! It's rare that a movie does a book justice but in this case I'd say they did. I loved every minute of it! AND the author of the book has a cameo which I thought was THE coolest!!!!
Great weekend, hopefully the first of many this summer!
