Rainy Friday

A little rain can't dampen these girls' spirits. They got home from school, dumped their stuff in the entryway, grabbed umbrellas and raced right back outside to play. They ran around out in the yard for awhile, playing this and that, perfectly content, not a care in the world.

The umbrella novelty was just starting to wear off when we spotted a little silver car headed our way!Hooray, Grammie's here to visit! I could hardly get a picture in focus because they were too excited to stand still and were bouncing and jumping around hollering like mad LOL If you ever need a self esteem boost, just pull into our driveway and the chorus of "woohooo"s will do wonders :)Grammie kicks off the visit with chocolate coated suckers. Good way to build up your fan base ;)))

The other night I was taking Honey to the bathroom late at night. She was dead asleep when I got her out of her bed (we do a last run before we go to bed in hopes of them getting through the night without waking us up to pee!) As I was carrying her and setting her down to sit, she starts mumbling something and all I can catch is "..... manners?" I have to get her to repeat her question a few times before it comes out in an intelligible phrase.

H: why doesn't Jaffar use manners? (Jaffar is a cartoon character from the movie Aladdin which to my knowledge, she hasn't seen in months)

K: I'm not sure but no one likes Jaffar very much do they?

H: well, except Iago I guess. (his pet bird)

Where do they come up with this stuff? and in their sleep at that???? and she was so quick to answer me!

Our Little Honey Bunny Superstar! :)))

Honey has been talking about her chart at school for awhile now. They get a sticker for every day that they do well at school. This week she's been counting down, "only 3 more stickers & I can bring my chart home Mumma!!!!" Well today was the day and we finally got to see it and she was sooooooo excited :) She was barely off the last step of the bus before she told me she had it in her bookbag. She's the first one in her class to get theirs completed and they announced it during the O Canada morning routine over the PA to the whole school. Her teacher got the class to clap for her and she's just on cloud nine about the whole thing. We told her how impressive it was and how proud we are of her. This chart thing has just made her whole week. She said she just couldn't stop smiling all day after she got that last sticker.

After supper she decided to cash in & go to Tim's and get a treat and was thrilled with her outing.

The Great Outdoors :)

Another fine day in our great metropolis haha! It is sooooo nice to still have sun at a time of year we're usually freezing our buns off. I'll take it as long as we can get it!
Today afterschool, we invited the neighbour kids over for a "popsicle party". The girls ran over to ask them and they did not have to ask twice! Everybody was back in no time, ready for the festivities.

After they left, we played around in the front yard & started checking out some lumber Grandad left behind from the decking project. We made a little seating area that the girls were completely enthralled with. It's not nailed down so they couldn't do much other than sit still but that was exciting enough for today.

Honey indulged me with some poses and was all vogued out :)

Sweetie's always willing to do a Bunny shot :)

We had company for supper tonight! Our long time hero and new blogfan, Shirley! Little does she know, she has been featured on the blog many times in the past. If she digs back far enough in the "older posts" section she might find some of those posts :)

We will be forever appreciative of Shirley's assistance during the baby days, toddler years and beyond. The girls absolutely adore her and have been missing her a lot. They kept asking when we could see her again and when we ran into her on a shopping errand, they were pretty happy about that, but it wasn't quite enough. Luckily she was able to come over tonight and eat with us and they got their cuddles, some stories annnnnnnnnnd tickets to a play for Christmas! Apparently she's not done spoiling us yet (not that we're complaining). Thank you Shirley for all the love and care and your generosity with your time. You have made a big impression on us and our girls have truly benefited from your giving spirit. We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The girls managed to stay still and quiet while Shirley looked around the yard for them. They couldn't keep the giggles in forever though and she was able to figure out their location!

Good times in a tree, ain't life grand?

oh and Grandad? um, you know we can't be trusted to secure this properly right? ;)

In The Big Woods

The girls had a few days off last week and Murray took a bit of vacation while they were home. On Saturday we loaded them up and headed for the woods. Unfortunately there was a playground between the parking lot & the woods and that proved very tricky! They played for a few minutes and then we tried to steer them towards the path.
Well we sure had a lot of nerve. Insert tantrum power fit here. We weren't 20 feet into the trail when we'd just about had enough. Murray was about to head back to the car when I spotted a potential diversion, a stream!

All I had to say was "oh look! there's a stream over here!" and they were all over it. (and in it of course). That was the end of the whining for the playground. Yes folks, I am a Mastermind Of Manipulation aka MOM ;)

Two hours of exploring later, we had to talk them into heading back to the car. We had a great time checking out the paths and running around. They found so many neat spots that kept their interest.

Even Murray kept himself busy and decided to try and pull a Sweetie manoeuvre but he wasn't able to reach her preferred altitude ;) before deciding to come back down to earth safely.

Of course, all good things must come to an end and a harmonious family outing just wouldn't be the same without something to fight over. Honey spotted a beer can and claimed it for her own. This only created minor jealousy amongst the sisters. It was the appearance of a 2nd beer can that really got things going. I noticed it first & pointed it out to Lovey who went tearing off after it. Honey was a bit closer and got a little greedy (oh the evils of money!) and this sent Lovey into a tizzy as she attempted to pick up speed on the uneven terrain. She was making good headway when suddenly she tripped and stumbled. She had a fair amount of momentum built up and just went flying, somersaulting over the ground in her desperate dash for the treasure. Honey had no mercy and was already dancing around with the loot by the time Lovey picked herself up and got over there. Instant waterworks.
We managed to convince Honey that it wasn't fair to keep the can and she did give it to her sister and eventually we found a 3rd can for Sweetie and everyone was satisfied, for a few mintues anyway!

The pond was a big hit as the used sticks and leaves and everything they could get their hands on to make their story.

Sweetie narrowly escaping our wrath for being on the inside of the fence where the fattest ducks in the world live. She was unable to resist the temptation to go get one so she could pet it.
