Leprechaun Trickery!

That sneaky leprechaun was around again yesterday and he had lots of tricks up his sleeve! All week long, anything that's been amiss, anything that didn't look quite the way they remembered it, was blamed on the leprechauns. After checking their traps daily and finding nothing, their diligence was rewarded yesterday, well, sortof! The two traps had been reconfigured into one trap and the leprechaun took all their money! When they examined the trap more closely and opened the containers that had previously held their pennies, they found one leprechaun gold coin in each of the 3 compartments. They were AMAZED! Sweetie said "I wasn't really sure about leprechauns but NOW I KNOW they're real!!!!!!!!!!!"
They were thrilled with their coins and checked them out thoroughly.
Then we spotted something strange on the mailbox and ran out to get a better look at that. The leprechaun left three shamrock headbands and tattoos! More concrete evidence!

I suggested that the leprechauns might have left other clues in the area and after lunch we decided to do some more investigating.
Although the Kraft Dinner came out of the box looking normal, somewhere along the line, one of those sneaky little guys put something in the pot and we had Shamrock noodles for lunch!

As soon as they ate lunch they were ready to hunt down more clues and we headed down the road. We didn't get out of the yard before Sweetie snagged the first item. A leprechaun hat!!!
Just a short distance from the hat, a twinkling in the dirt caught our eye! We found a big shiny shamrock on the side of the road. We were definitely headed in the right direction!!!!

Along the way we decided reinforcements were needed. When Penny opened the door, the girls burst into explanations of the adventure they were on. They were so loud, thorough and exuberant that Penny couldn't understand a thing they were saying.

Tulip joined in on the action and started finding clues right away!

We travelled to the farm and back and they filled their clue bag with the items. At the end, we brought them back to our house so they could divide everything up fairly.
Murphy managed to get his own clue although he didn't seem nearly as excited as those girls were!
The leprechaun was never found but I heard she was very tired at the end of the day yesterday! :)))

The Leprechaun Traps

It's late & I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open, lunches aren't made and I'm a day behind on my scripture reading but I can't go to bed and leave the blog neglected again! But this is short & sweet! Here are the leprechaun traps the girls made & set up near the front & back doors of our house. Unfortunately they never caught a single leprechaun!

I'll share the mischief the leprechauns caused in our neighbourhood and today's adventures, tomorrow! :)))

In Search of Leprechauns!

With St Patrick's Day coming up there is a lot of talk of leprechauns, pots of gold, green stuff etc. Today at school, the leprechauns stole all the kids shoes out of the hallway. Then, later on, he locked all the classroom doors and the teachers had to find a key to get out! Needless to say, these troublesome folk MUST be stopped. As soon as they got home from school, they began working on some leprechaun traps for here at home. They've got a plan! They're going to catch one & get his pot of gold.
After supper we went out into the neighbourhood and hoped for a sighting. We searched high & low. In between their scanning for green stuff, they picked up garbage! Finally, we found a clue! Something green caught their eye!
They gathered around to investigate the evidence and up on closer inspection, it turned out to be litter.
We checked most of our area and although there were many false alarms, we didn't end up with any real leads.
It's very lucky that we have 3 sets of binoculars as this enabled constant scanning during the entire walk. Whenever they spotted garbage to pick up or traces of leprechaun, they would immediately holler "BING! BING! BING!!!!" and the other two would come running to help examine the sample.
There were a lot of green bits to examine and with their commitment to thoroughness, nothing was left behind. It all got a good going over!

Then, when we were most of the way back, Sweetie got a lucky break when she spotted a metal rim sticking out of the snowbank. "BING! BING!! BING!!!" brought the other 2 to her side in a hurry. What else could it be but the hidden pot of gold????
Unfortunately this exciting development didn't pan out. He'd hidden the pot but taken the gold with him. THIS guy is good. Sneaky & clever fellow and these girls have met their match. Unfortunately for him, we've got a secret weapon. Mr. Murphy is very talented at sniffing out leprechauns and their gold. Murphy stopped at one point and stared off across the field, surely witnessing a little green man running for his life. They fixed their binoculars on the horizon but he got away just in time I guess!

Then, as Murphy walked over this spot, they heard a telltale sound! The clink of gold coins was clearly heard. This is why Murphy stopped here! The gold is buried right here!
After much digging and scraping, nothing was discovered and we had to call off the search due to bedtime!
Stay tuned for more leprechaun hunting, there are still a couple days left!!!
