Got Milk?

Well who hasn't done the old blow your straw in your milk trick? I saw the bubbles rising and rising in the cup and immediately did the mom thing "Stop that! you're going to make a mess!!!"
But the sternness didn't last long, I can remember too well doing the exact same thing with the exact same glee and the exact same mess afterwards.
and besides, how can I stay mad at this face?????

Someday she can holler at her daughter too, then remember her own milk moments!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I know this is a day early but some of you are morning blogstalkers so if I don't post it tonight, the morning folks won't see it til Monday! Now Shirley it would be best if you didn't peek here, I know you're a night blogstalker so you just move on and then you'll be pleasantly "surprised" tomorrow at church :) Nanny & Grampy yours went in the mail earlier this week but you didn't mention them yesterday so I guess we didn't make it on time. Hopefully they'll be there on Monday so maybe you'd better leave now also!

Everybody else, scroll on down :)

The girls were very happy with their valentines this year! I thought there might be a squabble over who got which one and I'd have to rearrange them but everybody liked exactly what I'd picked for them and no re-edits were required. Whew! It's hard to believe how much time these tiny little things can take. All I had to do was plunk the photo in the hole but then I decided to add a little this, change a little that and voila, there went another two hours of my life that I'll never get back. They were so pleased though that it was worth staying up late for! and I'm pretty sure they had the cutest ones in their class but maybe that's just the mommy goggles talking :)

By the way, getting kids to work on addressing their valentines is akin to herding a bunch of drunk monkeys. Oh my word. Murray commented that he felt like he was running a Valentine's card sweatshop where the workers are easily distracted and need constant supervision! This was a perfect description. Thank goodness there are less than 25 kids in each class. Thank goodness they can at least spell & write their own names easily and thank the teachers for sending the lists of names home a week in advance with the wise advice to start right then!

Hope your valentine's is sweet & fun!

Rockstar Action!

Lovey was rocking out to Hannah Montana the other day and we have some video for your viewing pleasure!

Then Sweetie got in on the action and kept Lovey company on "the stage".

Feelin' the Love!

With the lead up to Valentine's Day there is a lot of excitement of course! and this week has had some very nice surprises already! We got valentine's in the mail from Shirley the other day and they were thrilled with those. They love getting mail and are always very excited on the rare occasion when I can answer the daily "is there any mail for me?" question with "Yes! there is a letter for YOU!"
Today was double the excitement. Grammie & Grandad sent valentines with necklaces and stickers! Honey's going to wear hers tomorrow (necklace that is). On the necklace it says "I love you mom". Usually her teacher reads anything that kids have on their shirts etc. She's hoping that she'll read the necklace and ask "what about me? do you love me?" and then Honey will reply "Yes! I do!"
They dug into a parcel from Nanny & Grampy and found the booty in there without any trouble :) Chocolates and a valentine pen, woohoo!!!

and the highlight of MY week: a valentine from guess who? I'll give you a hint: we don't call her Sweetie for nothin' ;)
and just in case your "kindergarten writing" is a little rusty, it says

Dear Mom
i LOVE YOU
I hope you have
a great day
You're the best
mom in
the whole
wide
world.

Love Sweetie.

Now isn't that just grand???? there's a keeper :)))

Goodbye Dear Friend!

This weekend we said goodbye to our trusty stroller. This was probably one of the most exciting and valuable purchases we made for the babies. It was a gift from Murray's parents & grandfather and we took advantage of it every chance we got.
They were only weeks old when we got it. I remember the delivery guy when we told him that the big boxes were for a triplet stroller. He just looked at me, took a step back and said "uh oh."
Yeah, don't get too close, we might rub off on you! LOL

This stroller had everything! It rolled like a dream in all road conditions, the seats reclined perfectly for their tiny little can't hold up my own head bodies, the sunshade kept the dangerous rays at bay. It even came with a bell! The only thing that I wished it had was an odometer. I would love to know how many miles I/we put on that thing! Once we had it, it was out every day, at LEAST once & quite often 2 or 3 times a day. I would put them in there and go for 70 minute walks. Murray would put them in and go jogging. We got a hitch put on the car so we could load the carrier on the back & took it all sorts of places to check out trails etc. Without this stroller, I could NOT have left the house on my own for 2-3 years.
It was mostly used outdoors and it held up beautifully. Now that the girls are bigger and tend to run & race everywhere, the stroller has sat in the garage, unused for the better part of the last couple of years. I occasionally thought we should get rid of it but would immediately get hit with a wave of memories of our adventures & explorations that put that idea to rest!

Then a few months ago, out of the blue, I got an email through the club from a lady inquiring if anyone might have a triple stroller to sell. Then I was in a quandry. Someone needed something that I had available..... I cautiously emailed her back & mentioned I might be thinking about selling mine in the summer.
I was hoping she was only interested in a side by side model. Nope, any type would do. Dang. I then tried giving her sticker shock. I was sure she'd balk at paying hundreds of dollars for a used stroller! Nope. she'd researched and had expected they'd be in that range. I immediately regretted not going higher! I really wasn't keen on selling it but it seemed silly (and a wee bit selfish!) to keep hanging on to it when someone else could benefit from it. She is a stay at home mom who's helping with the family finances by taking in 2 more little ones to babysit. She too will need a way to get out of the house so it's good that she'll be able to benefit from it. I know it's just a "thing" but even Murray admitted to being sad to see it go. He put a lot of those miles on there too!

Fall 2004, one of the first runs!
June 18, 2005, we take the girls back to the NICU to visit one year from the day they were born

October 2007, their first Halloween :)

Mmmm Mmmm Good!

I went to a friend's Pampered Chef party last week and got some shopping done! I can't wait for my new goodies to arrive either :)))

While we were there, the rep made the most delicious thing and I had to have more so I made it for us this weekend. Lovey & Sweetie weren't big fans but the rest of us were in heaven. I know Dad, toooooo much broccoli right? Definitely not a good one for those adverse to the green vegetables. Some of that is green pepper too though..... Lovey managed to choke it down since it was really worth her while that night. She'd been sick the day before and missed nacho night, which she would definitely have managed to eat. We couldn't just give her the space on the mermaid chart but since it wasn't her fault that she didn't eat, Murray suggested letting her carry it over & letting the next night's supper be worth TWO spaces. Once confronted with this broccoli infested concoction, she really had her work cut out for her. Eventually the lure of the mermaid plus the temptation of freshly baked dessert won her over and she ate it.

It's called Chicken Broccoli Braid and oh my word it is awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwesome!

I added in some chopped tomatoes, green instead of red pepper and used minced garlic instead of fresh but that's about it for my variations this time. It calls for slivered almonds to sprinkle on top but I didn't have any unfortunately :(

Murray also made pie so I was in pastry heaven that night! Woohoo! Since he used the wholewheat/flax/wheatgerm flour mix, it was healthy pie right????

Vday Shoot!

I'm making valentines for the kids to take to give to their friends and found ones that you can put their picture in. Of course I needed brand new images so on Friday I started with Honey and got a few shots of her done. She started off in regular clothes but then decided she needed to dress up and got out some of her finery (above, another Princess Pamela original!)
Since Lovey was so sick, I didn't think it would be a good day to work with her, especially since she was so pale and not looking well. She recovered quickly when she found out the other two were getting pictures done and was showing some great signs of life in no time!

Sweetie dug around til she found a shirt that was suitably festive and remembered a new skirt we'd picked up at Value Village last month & dug further til she came up with that. She even put on tights! I can't usually get her to wear a skirt or a dress to school or church and if I somehow manage to, she insists on a full pair of pants underneath and NEVER wears tights!

She started off the whole rockstar mode by grabbing the Hannah Montana guitar and getting up on "stage" and rocking out to the pre programmed songs on the instrument!
Just when you think you know someone!!! Wonders never cease. I suggested she use the outfit for church on Sunday but she looked at me like I had two heads and went with her standard pants!

Grammie Time

Friday's fun included these cute pop up snowmen that came with a little stash of candies in the bottom! Grammie knows where to find the best treats :)))
Lovey was home with the flu on Friday & I wasn't feeling too hot either so we lounged around a good part of the day and got some quality napping done while her sisters were at school. She kept asking when they'd be home though so I don't think she entirely enjoyed her day as a singleton.
Once everybody was home they got busy with a project from their newly rediscovered Christmas stocking goodies. I guess this would be a "sticker by number" thing. They liked it and we have new artwork now so it's a double bonus!

Honey had a great time!!!!

We Have a Winner!

Our first contestant to complete their mermaid chart was none other than our little Honey Bunny! She kept her eyes on the prize and never wavered. No matter what happened or how she was feeling, she managed to keep herself in check. During the very first week she had a couple slips that were quickly reined in and after that she told me she had learned how not to speak that way and that it was easy now.For doing such an excellent job and not missing a single day, we let her have her mermaid on the morning of the last day instead of making her wait til bedtime. She was sooooooo pleased! We even had time for a bath before church and I let her stay in the longest so she'd be able to get more playtime in. Her sisters were happy but also a little envious that her mermaid is out of the box. Hopefully this will motivate them to work a little harder on their charts.
Lovey seems to be a little more determined this week. I think she can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. She's up to #19 today and realizes she's more than halfway there. She has eaten her supper at least 4 nights in a row and isn't making a stink at dinner either (lately anyway!)

Sweetie has had many many slips and I'm cracking down. I've been letting her get away with too many warnings. She's missed a few days this week but did ok today so she's on #23. It will be interesting to see if Lovey passes her. They were both hoping Honey would blow it so they could pass her but there was no way she was going to do that!

Congratulations Honey, you did a great job on your challenge and you deserve your prize!!1
