Little Kids in the Big Woods

Someone had the great idea to go for a picnic today. I'm not sure who but it sounded great yesterday when it was sunny and warm out. Today when I got home from the gym, it was not warm and it was barely sunny at all. Nonetheless, a plan is a plan and these chicks were not to be deterred!

Everyone made their lunch selections for the picnic, packed their knapsack, got dressed, disregarded all advice on the subject of weather appropriate attire and we were off!
We hadn't been gone long when Lovey cried out "oh no, we're LOST!!!!!!!!!!!" I took the above picture immediately after she said it to show how hopelessly lost we were at that particular moment. :))) As you can see, our house is still somewhat visible.

I had several anxious moments as I watched them move around, tipping, slipping and almost dipping in this icy cold water. Since we still had the house in sight, it wasn't too worrisome, just would have been a nuisance to take them all home to change when we'd only just gotten started.

Lovey decided to bring crayons in case she got bored at the picnic and had to try them out. She didn't bother bringing any paper to work on so decorated a fallen tree instead. I'm sure the local critters will appreciate her artistic touch.

Everyone was finishing up eating when Sweetie began to complain about the cold. She'd worn a skirt with tights, no mitts and a light spring coat. My feet were already cold but not too bad and I figured they'd warm up once we were moving again instead of standing still while eating.

Sweetie wasn't optimistic though and got quite miserable and then Lovey joined in so we gave up and walked allllllllll the way back.

We discussed the outing:

K: So, on a scale of 1 to 10.... this would be what? a zero???
M: oh! No!!!!
K: really?
M: yeah, I'd give it a 4

Good times, good times!

Easter Morning

The girls were very pumped for Easter and had a hard time settling down for bed. The anticipation was almost too much for them but they actually drifted off faster than they'd planned. After the Easter Bunny came, there was loot everywhere! Their favourite part is hunting for the little chocolate eggs & Murray & I enjoy helping eat them!

They were quick to get to work when they got out of bed & spotted the trails leading from their bedrooms right away.

Lovey was very pleased with her finds!

They got a pretty decent haul, Murray wondered if it was Santa or the Easter Bunny that had been there!
