Beauty Sleep

Sweetie got herself ready for bed and then giggled and whispered to me:

Sweetie: I put on my eyeshadow and lipgloss!!!
Me: for BED?!?!?? that's CRAZY!!!!
Sweetie: wellllllllllll, I did!
Me: how come?
Sweetie: I want to have prettier dreams! Can I borrow your old sleeping mask?
Me: I'll look for it, why do you want to wear that?
Sweetie: instead of cucumbers!

Well duh! of course! what was I thinking???????

Skate-o-rama!

The girls went skating with their school this week and loved it! When we went over the holidays, it was an awful back breaking event! No one wanted to skate on their own, they were terrified of trying to glide along at all. It seemed like the hundreds of dollars spent on skating lessons last winter had been a complete waste!! This trip though gave me more hope! Honey was still cautious but maneuvered around well on her own without hanging on to anyone by the end of the skate. She was just taking walking steps with her skates and falling down and saying "SEE????" She claims her instructors never showed or told her how she was supposed to slide along the ice. After practicing a bit, she was doing much better. They were only there for half an hour but it was enough to give her some confidence :)))

Lovey & Honey didn't even wait for me to get my skates on. Once they were laced & helmet headed, they were off like a shot and I had to go find them among the throngs of grade oners! Suddenly everything had come back to them and they were loving being able to zip around the ice with their classmates. They couldn't get enough and were disappointed when it was time to pack up and can't wait to go again!

Hitting the Trail!

Murray got a ski rack for Christmas & got it on the car so we could go out skiing on the weekend. I am still in awe at this outing. Everyone got their stuff on, got in the car and we got there, put on skiis and went skiing for an hour. No whining. no crying, fussing, freaking or fighting. I'm not sure we've ever taken them skiing without at least one breakdown. Let me tell you, it was a nice change!! The only thing I heard was when Honey mentioned that one of her baby toes was getting cold in a matter of fact tone.

She really got the hang of it this time and zoomed off ahead of her sisters and I. Murray's got oldschool ski boots that are thin leather so if he doesn't keep moving, he freezes. The weather that day was chillllllllllllllllay! We've got to upgrade his equipment if he's going to run with this crew because we're not highspeed enough for him! He was frozen by the time we got back to the car. When he told me he'd just worn his dress socks from church, I was pretty sure he had frostbite! Luckily they weren't really dress socks but thick fleece ones. (they weren't white sport socks, so he figured they were "dress socks"). He eventually thawed out but it was painful.

While he & Honey were off ahead, someone commented that Honey was doing really well and asked if she was a "Ski Bunny" from the local kids' learn to ski program. Well! She LOVED that! However, when Murray told the rest of us about it, Lovey & Sweetie were outraged at the injustice of the whole thing. "why didn't they call ME a ski bunny? I want to be one too!" Sweetie especially wanted to be one since she loves her Bunny so much. LOL

Dragon's Den Material????

I've been meaning to do this for YEARS. It has been an annoyance of mine and I have finally taken care of it! I've always hung my drying dishtowels on the handle of the oven since my parents started making me do all the dishes at the tender age of 2 (ok, maybe 3). However, those darn things never stay put! Every time I walk by, my clothes brush the dishtowel and it slithers to the floor. I used to wonder why they had to make the darn handles so slippery??? Then I had the brainstorm! I could give them better grip!!! Then I sat on the idea except for when I was picking up a towel.

Finally, I'd had it. I couldn't stand it anymore & was actually desperate enough to get out my sewing box. (Dad can you pick Mum up off the floor? I'm pretty sure she just fell over). I buckled down and got that problem solved. I'm pretty sure it's Dragon's Den material and will soon be featured on an episode! My dishtowel dilemma is no more for the low low price of $0.99+ tax. Why I didn't do this sooner I have no idea.
