Rain Rain GO AWAY!

Just figures that just when we think we can safely enjoy some sunny summer weather, wham! Here comes the rain. It looked ominous all day today so I put off going outside for quite awhile. We did some cleaning up, the girls helped make all the beds. Honey & Lovey are still in their toddler beds and can pretty much make them all by themselves & are quite proud of themselves when they do! Sweetie's bed is a real double bed so it's a little harder for her to get the sheets pulled up all the way & smoothed out everywhere but if I do one side while she works on the other, it comes out pretty darn good! So we did that and we worked on putting away some of our toys & played "in the drawer or in the garbage?" for awhile, they caught on QUICK! ; )))

The skies still looked a little risky so then we baked cookies & that took care of the rest of the morning. After lunch they played while I cleaned up and then we did some colouring & tried to use some stencils they'd gotten in a birthday present. BAD IDEA. They don't have enough hand control to follow along the edges but totally understood what the stencil could do and wanted to get all the neat shapes drawn on their paper. Eventually we gave up on THAT plan!

Around 3pm I figured if it hadn't come dumping down by then, surely we'd be ok for another hour or so. (play ominous music here) We sprayed and slathered on the sunscreen, got the camera, Murphy and I threw in some umbrellas for them in case it did sprinkle a bit. They hadn't really tried them out yet & I thought they'd like playing with them if nothing else. la la la la la off I went down naive lane... at the absolute furthest point the heavens decided to open with a mighty roar and then had a good laugh as the rain came down in great quantities. They got to use their umbrellas alright. Sure wish I'd thrown one in for MYSELF!

I managed to snap a few quick pics before the rain got too heavy & I had to put the camera in a bag so it didn't drown!

They did enjoy their umbrellas but Sweetie had a hard time figuring out how to hold hers up straight. She kept standing there with it lopsided and wondering why it wasn't keeping her dry! Honey shared hers with me during the heaviest part of the rain but poor Murphy really got a soaking!

After all this, they didn't feel like picking daisies in the plentiful patch I'd found for them and braved the storm for! They did however go for quite a few wild strawberries that were nearby so it wasn't a total loss.

Getting tired of girls picking daisies yet????

Today was such a good day here! It always seems to help when there's an outing or activity to fill part of the day. We had playgroup in the morning and we got ready to go with next to no fuss and had a great time there.

ok, slight squabble here when Lovey decided SHE needed to hug Murphy too! Her cranky face sortof took away from the sweetness of Honey hugging Murphy so I cropped her out but on the other hand, it's a true picture of life around here! Everything's "covet-able" : )))

Sweetie wanted to give Murphy some attention (heaven knows he could use some!) so she shared her flowers with him. I'm sure he was very touched by her gesture.

After lunch they read their books as I cleaned up the kitchen. I even got to sit down & read some of my OWN book for a bit as they all sat with me in our bed. It was a brief break but still a treat nonetheless! Eventually we went outside and played in the sandbox which they still love! I got some wash hung out while they did that & then we had a 'picnic' for snack time.

They played well while I got dinner ready, no whining for snacks or anything. This is one of those days where I marvel at what good little girls they really are! (don't ask about yesterday... fight fight fight!)

Since they were behaving so well, I managed to have supper pretty much ready when Murray got home so we were finished much earlier than usual and we tidied up quickly & went out for a walk down the road. They looooooooooove picking flowers. There's hardly a daisy left between here & the farm! We're going to have to switch our route to keep them in flowers.

When daisies started running low, Sweetie kept herself busy planting "rock seeds". Who needs to buy gravel when your daughter can plant a crop for you? Should get her to work on the driveway as it's rather bald looking!

learned how to add 'vignette' look tonight!

Roll Call Results

It was really interesting to read the responses to Roll Call. Thank you for commenting (and very nicely at that!), it was neat to see who the regulars are and a nice surprise to see some names I hadn't expected! If you are only checking in now & missed "Roll Call", see the previous post and add a comment there please!

Thanks for all the nice comments as well. It's nice to know that not only is someone reading all my long winded accounts, they're enjoying them and looking forward to them. I feel a little guilty some nights when I go to bed knowing there isn't going to be anything new for those doing their regular morning visit! I do try but sometimes I have to leave it for another day.

Roll Call!

Ok I'm curious, who's out there??? I know there are at least 5 people checking in daily but probably a few dropping by a little less frequently.... Now show yourselves & leave a comment! How often are you here? : ))) better comply with my demands..... or no more pictures for you!

Picnic in the Park!

Wow what a great day! Tiring but so nice! The weather was great, hot but great! After being woken up by Sweetie at 4:20AM, then summoned by Lovey shortly after & then Sweetie again and maybe a 3rd time, I fell back into bed at 5:15 with no intention of budging til Murray had to leave for work! He realized he'd dodged a bullet though and willingly held down the fort, despite many freakouts and tantrums and screaming fits that just barely registered in my sleepy state.

I didn't waste much time getting in touch with T this morning! Luckily she & Boo had no plans so we decided to take our Monday playdate on the road. Off to the park for a picnic. We all brought some things to share and they ate really well on our little picnic blanket. We were there for 3 hours! They did a lot of playing and were tuckered out by the end. I had to stop at the grocery store on the way home & was a little nervous adding a public performance that late in the game but it was fine. They didn't last long on the ride home though!

Lights are on but Nobody's home...

We arrived at M&D's for Sunday night dinner, only to find nobody there! I was a little freaked out when no one answered the girls' frantic knocking & the door was unlocked when I checked. Were they OK in there??? what was I going to find when I opened the door??? This had never happened before! The girls were equally confused as they ran all over the house hollering "Grammie! Ranrad!!! are you HERE???" I was quite relieved not to find any bodies inside but a little curious as to where my folks might have gone! Murray figured it out & we phoned a neighbour who was celebrating their daughter's graduation & sure enough, that's where they were! Whew! Crisis averted!

When they pulled in the yard the girls started yelling again "Grammie!!! Grammie!!! Ranrad! CAN YOU HEAR ME?????????" They were quite worked up! Don't mess with their routine I guess.

They love to run in the field behind M&D's...

and on the Jordy trail...

and in the backyard!
