High Flying Fun!

While wind has had some disastrous circumstances elsewhere in the world this week, we were able to reap some benefits from the breeziness. The girls wanted to get the kite out the other day so we went into the powerline-less field and sent it up. I couldn't get over the expressions of absolute joy on their faces as they held that string. They ran all over to keep the kite going and did really well hanging on to it. I was sure we'd be saying goodbye to Pooh & Tigger as the wind was quite strong and could have easily carried it away if they had dropped the handle. It only slipped once and the kite happened to be in mid crash anyway so it didn't get far. Once they had three crashes it was the next girl's turn so they were very motivated to keep it in the air! I'll have to remember to get this out on the next windy day because they just loved it sooooooo much!

The week in review...

a few pics from Mothers Day...

Ok so I skipped a few days! (or maybe no one noticed????) It's been a busy week! On Monday we had some visitors. A friend brought her kids over for pictures but it didn't go as well as I'd hoped. My backstands weren't cooperating so I didn't have my "studio" set up when they arrived. While they waited, Fisher had a chance to check out the toys & see that the girls were watching tv downstairs. That pretty much was the end of getting her to sit for portraits! Joni's older son, Hunter was more cooperative & I was able to get more of him, however, Fisher would NOT let us pose the two of them together so we may have to reshoot in a more boring location! :) Once we relieved her of her modelling duties, she was quite content and had a blast playing outside.

On Tuesday Sweetie had her hearing recheck appointment. I thought that the first time, there had been too many distractions that caused her not to pass the screening. Unfortunately, it seems there may actually be a bit of a concern. Even with just one thing to work on (last time they weighed her, measured her height, did an eye test, asked me a bunch of questions etc before starting the hearing part) she wasn't able to hear some of the lower tones. I can't imagine it could be anything serious with the way that girl can repeat anything we say AND correct any mistakes in pronunciation her sisters make. She's been referred to an audiologist at the hospital so we'll have another appointment there to see what the deal is. Whatever it is, it doesn't really seem to give her any problem or limit her understanding or speech so we're not concerned at this point.

About an hour or so before we were supposed to leave, Sweetie came running up to me and said "Mumma, can I start getting ready to go????" It's funny how keen they all are for any individual outings! She was willing to do anything I told her needed done before we could go. She had her clothes on, hair brushed, bed made, shoes on, coat on, Bunny ready with only minor suggestions from me. Here we are, on our way out, saying "See ya later!" She was just grinning ear to ear & was so anxious to get going!

The rest of Tuesday was pretty busy getting ready for the multiples group meeting/party that I organize each year after Mothers Day. I brought all sorts of food, got quite a few doorprizes and the hostess who kindly offered to have us all over, got some wine and cheese. It was a mighty fine spread and everyone had a good time so I'd say it was a success. I got several nice emails afterwards thanking me for the event which was a nice change! Getting such positive feedback afterwards definitely made me feel appreciated : ) It may have helped that I threatened not to come to the family bbq because I was feeling unloved LOL Quite often people come to things and have very little to say about it afterwards. When I put a lot of work & time into things and no one seems to care, it's soooooo discouraging! Anyway, that certainly wasn't the case this time.
Yesterday was just about THE best Wednesday I've ever had in my LIFE!!! and you know by now how fond I am of Wednesdays in general!!! We had playgroup in the morning as usual & this was fun in itself of course. But then it got better and just kept being awesome the whole afternoon long!!! Yvonne, Teena & I and the 6 girls all went for a picnic at the park! We spread out blankets, had a good feed and then the kids were off playing. The 3 moms sat and talked and talked and talked and the kids played and played and played. The weather was awesome, the girls were all busy and active and running around together and had very little interest in us adults. Before we knew it, it was 4 o'clock! A whole day gone and not one tantrum, fight or any tears at all!!!!! I was so happy with having such a fun, relaxed day with good friends and happy girls with their little friends!! Can it be that the good ol days are here already??????? : )))

Aunt Cathy's packing...

a LOT of toothbrushes! Thank you everyone for helping me collect them for her. I ended up with over 180 for her to take to the orphanage. There are 120 children there so everybody will get one and still have some to spare.

I presented them to her in church and she was extremely surprised! She knew something was going on when I went up to the front of the church at children's time. She's pretty familiar with my speaking in front of large groups phobia so me being anywhere near a microphone was highly suspicious! I was able to get through it without passing out or throwing up so I consider it a successful mission. I even made her cry! just one little tear, completely unnoticeable to anyone who wasn't standing right beside her but I knew I'd done well to see that! : )

Wandering in the woods...

A casual weekend here! Murray took the girls shopping for my mother's day present but only Honey & Lovey wanted to go. Sweetie felt it would be more special for her to stay home with me and the cartoons that were on tv!
The girls came back with two bouquets of flowers, one red & the other was....... can you guess???? YES! PURPLE!!!!!!!! : )

After lunch we went for a walk in the woods but Sweetie didn't really feel up to the "walking" part and insisted on being pushed in the stroller. Murray felt it would be less painful to push the stroller through the dense underbrush than listen to her whine & scream the whole time.

We actually got quite a ways further than we've ever gone on our family walks before. If it wasn't for the rough terrain, I'd say the stroller would be a good idea all the time! Honey & Lovey mostly ran & Lovey had a great time being the trailblazer this week. She got to pick the direction whenever there was more than one path. She found that quite exciting and really kept her pace up to ensure her lead position!

awwwwww! sisters forever!!!!!!!

While Murray had the other two out shopping, I decided to tackle our oven. It has been terribly neglected for longer than I can even remember. Now it is practically crud free! I ran out of cleaner before I got the whole thing coated though so I still have to do the racks when I get some more stuff..... someday....

Saturday evening Murray & I went out to a fundraising dinner at the church. Murray scored some more salmon although with his cold, he couldn't taste a thing so it was sortof wasted on him. A bunch of the kids from youth group performed their pieces from the music festival for our entertainment. One of the girls did a number from the Sound of Music, woohoo!!

We were verrrrrrrrrry lucky to have a new babysitter! actually a sitter in training. She hasn't had many jobs yet but wants to get started so her mom came with her & they did great. Luckily Honey was able to tell them everything they were doing wrong & keep everyone in line. "I don't sink we're supposed to do that" .... "Mumma's not going to like that!" .... "We can't go outside after supper!" When we got home, Susan laughed and said that she'd apparently broken all the rules. The girls enjoyed the new people anyway though so it all worked out. Susan got them to get out their paper & crayons and they made me a whole bunch of Mother's Day cards which I had no clue about until I peeked in on Sweetie the next morning. She blinked her eyes open, saw me & said "Happy Mother's Day! don't forget to look in the mailbox!"
