The eating is still pretty hit or miss around here but the last few nights Lovey had done well. Often if I serve things in dishes on the table and let her serve herself, she takes decent portions and eats well. The night before last she cleaned her plate and was almost the first one done. She's obviously in as much shock as we were!Honey didn't make quite as much progress so Sweetie decided to cheer her on and ran downstairs for her pom poms. She chanted and twirled and danced around and worked her magic on Honey who eventually ate her supper.
Here's what they were playing for, chocolate cheesecake muffins (that I didn't have muffin cups for so just dumped in a pan instead)
There weren't enough pom poms in the world to cheer Lovey or Honey through supper tonight but Sweetie had her eye on some Dutch Apple cake and powered through her salmon like a champ!

Park Party!
Ok, so technically it wasn't a "party" but I'm addicted to alliteration so work with me here will ya?
We had another incredibly busy Saturday which got kicked off at 6am. Yep. You read that right, even earlier than a school day morning! Murray had a race yesterday and wanted to be there for 7am to get his information kit etc. The night before we asked the girls if they wanted to get up early & go to the market after dropping Daddy off. 100% were on board & excited about this plan!
I should have known that just because something is appealing at bedtime, does NOT mean it will hold any interest whatsoever to a 6 year old who's just been pulled out of her nice warm bed at 6am. Honey flew out of her room, was dressed and ready to go in about 5 minutes. Lovey was undecided and wanted to know what Sweetie's plans were. Murray told them they could go to the market or go back to bed. Unfortunately for Sweetie, Honey wanted to stick with the original plan so we had to coerce her into getting ready. There may or may not have been intimidation and brute force employed after 20 minutes of her screaming and rolling around on the floor. The important thing here is that we got Murray to the drop off on time so let's not dwell on the "how we got there" part. :)))
We spent awhile wandering around at the market in search of "healthier" food options. Everyone's always talking about getting their meats, veggies etc there because it's organic or free range or some other benefit that I really don't know much about. I find the market intimidating as all get out. There's too many choices and no freakin' labels on stuff! The only way to find out is to talk to them, let them know you're a total ignoramus, in front of throngs of passersby and then be prepared to walk away if you a) still have no clue b) don't like the answer or c) find it all incredibly expensive d)want to check another stall of similar merchandise
I found it much easier to buy mice shaped bread and cupcakes for breakfast and spend all our grocery money on treats. We will not be eating one bit healthier after this week's foray into natural foods! :))) Ok, that's not entirely true. I ran into a woman experienced in the ways of the market and she took me to a few of her favourites. I now have "good" eggs and some veal cold cuts.
My market wise friend then suggested we all go to Chapters to browse the kids' section and hang out. They have a great play area for the kid and they were entertained for quite awhile as we looked around and chatted. We left around lunch time and came home to eat. When we got here there was a message from Teena, suggesting we meet at a park! Although it had already been a long day, how often do we get to see them? Not enough I say! So we finished lunch and headed back out to the park for a couple hours. We'd never been to this playground so the kids had a blast on this unchartered territory and they were on the go constantly.
Finally I had to pry their grimy little hands off the insanely colourful bars and crazy glue them into their seats so we could go pick up Murray who had by now finished his race.
