PW has seemed better lately! We've been able to take his cone off for several days at a time and only rarely need to put it back on for short stretches at a time. The cuts and bites on his tail have healed which must be more comfortable and less itchy. His fur has grown back in that section too so it doesn't look nearly as bad as it did. Now that the fur has filled back in, I don't think he'd bitten off as much as I'd thought. I didn't realize a good part of that length was actually just fluff!
He still have occasional bursts of spazziness and growls and hisses at his tail but usually we can just pat him and he'll settle down. He's even brought us a present or two and is also eating his cat food and doesn't look nearly as skinny as he did. Normal isn't a term I'd ever apply to him but I can say that he's much improved!

Butterfly Hunters
After school the sun was actually shining today and no one wanted to come in and start homework, strangely enough! Since it's Thursday, they don't usually have much anyway so I let them grab their nets and have a go at hunting down some butterflies to observe. They were pretty sure they'd caught a monarch but it didn't look like one to me. As I was trying to inspect it, I lifted the net accidentally and it escaped. You could have seen my popularity level plummet! That kept them busy for awhile and then I eventually had to drag them in to practice math for their weekly quiz tomorrow. They usually can put some time in on an app I found for the iPad called Pop Math. They like getting their "Score" and trying to get their time down. They only had to do 5 minutes each but it was like pulling teeth! and that's all the work they had to do tonight!
After supper it was still nice so I told them we would go for a bike ride when they got all their jobs done (pick their clothes for tomorrow, teeth brushed, make their lunch list, clean up toys etc.) but not to put on their pyjamas. WHY NOT??? they cried. Because it's WEIRD!!! I said. Sure enough, they were in their jammies lightning fast.
Any chance this will be their biggest form of rebellion??? With any luck this will be as "badass" as they get for a little while at least.
Lost & Found!
I went to my friend's wedding back in early October of
last year. While there, I visited an old friend of Murray's from
university and his family for a day. We were all over the place with at
least 6 different stops/locations. As I was about to take
my leave at the end of the day, I noticed I'd lost one of my earrings. It was a pair that the
girls had picked out for me for Christmas a few years ago. I thought I'd
lost one once but Lovey found it under her bed. So when this one went
missing, I knew the chances of it turning up were pretty slim. We scoured their van, the restaurant we were in at the time, the parking lot... everywhere! No sign of it and when they got home later, they couldn't find it.
The other day I was on facebook and saw this picture on Tory's page, with a question: Kelly is this your earring???
Lucky for me, it fell out while I was still at their house and they found it under a seat cushion! How sweet is that? Hooray! and I'll have to get that clasp fixed because I doubt the third time would be a charm in this case!

Mother's Day 2012
My little darlings forgot what day they woke up on yesterday and scampered off to play fairy games or in Honey's case, curl up with her latest tome. Once Murray got up, he got the party started! Then the top secret gifts that had been stashed covertly in their backpacks all weekend were revealed! I got the nicest notes and pictures, posters and paintings!
We went to church and then came home for lunch and played games on the Wii in the afternoon. I'd hoped to go for a walk but it wasn't very nice out. The kids felt really bad for me that I was always last place in Mario Kart. Nothing like getting your butt handed to you by a bunch of almost 8 year olds! Sweetie didn't want me to lose so much on mother's day so she stopped her car before the finish line and let me cross ahead of her!
When I'd been sufficiently trounced at Mario Kart, we headed for my parents' place and we brought the dessert! and yes, it tastes as good as, or possibly even better than it looks! Yummmmmm!!! The kids all made sure they ate supper to get in on this deal! and what a meal! BBQ'd ribs, nacho dip, chocolate fruit fondue and then the piece de resistance!!! Quite the spread!
I had a fabulous day and got to share it with another fabulous mom, mine! Sweetie even loaned me her tiara for the occasion!
ahhh the elusive bubble blowing skill!!! working hard but still not there yet!

Mother's Day Pre-Celebration!
Every year, the multiples group throws a mother's day party. For several years, this was my event to plan, prepare, bake for, shop for and execute. A few years ago I picked up a sidekick, Andrea, who is so much like me, it makes working on events so much easier as I know exactly what to expect and that I can depend on her 100%. Still lots of work for the 2 of us and we decided to hand it off. Luckily a few others volunteered to take on the party. We were glad to hand it off and not have to worry about anything except showing up! However, as it turns out, I'm not so good at that. What if they forget to ??? Did they know to contact so and so well in advance to secure the date? Are they going to hype the event up so people will come? and on and on. Andrea kept saying, "stay OUT of it" but I'm so addicted to my "what ifs" that it was incredibly hard to keep my fingers off the keyboard to check in on them! The club spends a small fortune on these events and charges a pittance for the tickets so it would be a shame if no one came!
But they sure did and it was a fabulous night! Roses for everyone, lovely decorations, a chocolate fountain (bliss!), live soft guitar music all evening, massages, manicures, door prizes and lots of snacks all evening! And a great turnout too! Obviously they knew what they were doing and they had so many great ideas that we'd never thought of or had time to do. A team of 4 is the way to go I think! Maybe one of them would like to be president...
They got each of us on the club executive (3 of us) a wonderful card with the nicest handwritten note of appreciation inside, along with a gift certificate for a pedicure at a local salon. It was so nice, and so unprecedented that I cried. (surprise surprise!). I became president of the group in 2005 and for years (until Andrea & Sylvie came along) was in charge of planning all our sales, parties, meetings, guest speakers, membership, paperwork, website creation, development and updating etc. This was the first time that anyone wrote a thank you card and it was a great feeling to be appreciated! Although the downside is that I can't resign now that they've been so nice!!! LOL
