Dinner Guests

We had Andrew & Mandy over for supper tonight. I cheated & made crockpot roastbeef but it turned out not too badly so everyone seemed happy. Well, the kids ate nothing as far as I can tell but I long ago gave up trying to make meals just for their benefit!

After supper the girls all wanted a baby in their belly like Aunt Mandy so they did their best to make it happen. Honey's got a dangler!

Lovey seemed the most fascinated with Mandy's tummy. She curled right up in the chair with her & sat there for a long time. Her 'baby' stayed put for the entire time & even after Andrew & Mandy went home.

They are going to love having a cousin around! They're pretty fascinated with babies in general but several months ago Sweetie started asking "where's my cousin?". How she knew there was one on the way before anyone else, we'll never know!

Not enough time!!

Where does it all go?? After the girls go to bed, I'm generally up another 4 hours and it never seems enough to get everything done. Last night I had a meeting for the multiples group, tonight I had Purpose Driven Life, tomorrow night I'm supposed to have choir practice but I think I'm skipping that because ................... (drumroll) I'm going away for the weekend!!! It's "
Scrap Divas" weekend and 62 of us are going to a hotel for 2 nights and scrapbooking our guts out. I have nothing packed or prepared so hopefully it'll all come together tomorrow night.

Besides that, the big clothing sale that I organize for the club is coming up on the following weekend. I have everything sorted out but there's still ALOT of price tags to put on! Considering I'm not going to get anything done this weekend and Murray's away until Tuesday, the pressure's on! My nerves are already starting to get to me & I've already had at least one "bad sale day" dream! This will only get worse over the next week! but a few late nights and it all comes together and whatever I don't get done, well Gravol will help me get through it. I usually can't sleep the night before the sale so I need to dope myself up!

Murray & the accoustic.

I did some pre-sale shopping at another member's house on Monday afternoon & picked up quite a few duds for the kids while they played with her kids in the toy room. They have a mini trampoline and they had a blast! It turned out that Murray didn't really have to work on Monday so he came home early & then had the house to himself while we were gone. He took advantage of the emptiness to get out his electric guitar and turn up the amp! After that he went on a big cleaning spree too & the place looked so tidy when we got home (temporarily of course!)

Murray's big race is only a few days away! His dad is coming on Saturday night & they're going to start heading for Boston!! OMG who's looking after the kids?????? *grin* any volunteers??? Never fear, Grammmie's on the job! She's going to cover us until I get home on Sunday. They probably can't kill her in less than 24 hours right?

Happy Belated Birthday to Murray & Karen!

Karen's big surprise (NOT!)

We celebrated 2 birthdays on the weekend! Murray & Karen were born 2 years and 2 days apart so generally shared their parties over the years. We're not always in town for bday time but this year it worked out.

Nancy made a huge turkey dinner which was pretty darn tasty. I couldn't resist extra everything and then had birthday cake besides. (oink oink oink)

Planting for PW

Nanny & Grampy gave the girls some of their Easter presents early. They got to plant some seeds to grow cat grass. It's supposed to sprout overnight so she thought it would be fun for them to do this while we were still there. They had a great time getting the dirt ready & scooping it carefully into their little pots and sticking in all the seeds. There was hardly any soil on the floor at all. Nanny was quite impressed at how well they worked and focused on their task. Unfortunately the results weren't quite as fast as we thought & we're still waiting for some sprouts to poke through. Maybe soon! Thank you Nanny & Grampy!

The Weather was NOT our Friend!

Man oh man! Talk about crappy travelling weather! We were going to Murray's parents for Easter & had planned to leave Thursday afternoon. Well that didn't pan out due to the stupid snowstorm that enabled us to build a giant snowman instead. Friday morning was much better and we were off & arrived without incident and made decent time. Saturday, MORE bad weather! There was NO snow when we got there, Murray & I didn't even bring boots or winter jackets! It kept up all day, cutting short the Easter dinner so people could get home before it got any worse. This morning the snow was still falling there but tapered off by mid morning but as we checked the reports for our route, it wasn't so great. We waited a few hours, hoping it would improve as the day went on but it didn't seem to change. Based on the fantastic weather (sunny, bright & beautiful!) and the kids getting bored and antsy, we decided to hit the road. We hadn't gone much over an hour when things slowed down to one lane and we had to drastically reduce speed as we saw cars, minivans, SUVs etc strewn in the ditches along the way. Not quite halfway home we came to a complete halt. The pavement was clear there was no snow in the air at all so we figured there must have been an accident. We were over 3 hours into the trip which would normally be a total of 4 hrs travel time and still not halfway? and 3 little kids in the back? Not a good combo and we braced ourselves for the fallout. But you know what? Those girls were little troopers! Only a few minor complaints & minimal fussing. We were almost 7 hours getting home in total and they were great about it. It could have been soooooooo much worse! The DVD player and large supply of snacks didn't hurt either!

Based on the hellish trip, I'm turning in early. First nights home are sometimes restless for the kids & I'm already beat! More tomorrow though. (at least, that's the plan...)
