It seems to be one extreme or the other around here, especially if anyone's overtired. Honey has seemed very volatile lately and outbursts and tears are frequent and unexpected! She really seems to need more sleep than the other 2 and I can't quite figure out how to get her settled and asleep before her sisters. Her most common complaint about everything else around here lately is "NOT FAIR!" so I'm pretty sure an earlier bedtime than her same age sisters is only going to start up her chorus! I let her sleep in an extra 15 minutes every day but she still cries when I go to get her.
Today after school, I spent some cuddle time with her, listening to her stories of what happened and different things. Shortly after that, everything went downhill. Big screaming matches in the bathroom as she tried to join in on whatever scenario Lovey & Sweetie were concocting. They'd already started planning it all out when Honey arrived on the scene and her requests for changes were not well received. I let them scream it out for awhile, hoping it would resolve but no such luck. Lovey was getting more and more agitated and louder and louder until Honey was crying. I called Lovey out and we talked about making changes to include Honey. It turned out Honey was in the "my way or the highway" camp and well that just doesn't fly! When I asked her to be more flexible and play along with them if she wanted to join the game, she was too far gone to consider any suggestions. So she went down to her room for a good & loud cry. Eventually she pulled it together and went downstairs to watch tv.
While she was down there, Lovey & Sweetie decided to try to cheer her up and make her feel included. They created some sort of scavenger hunt, gave her treats and lip gloss from their own collections, created signs & clues to lead her through to find the goodies and got everything ready!
It worked! She was all smiles as they led her through the steps. Several times as they started a new section, I heard her say "now DON'T tell me this is the last one!" Greedy little thing!
