Spooktacular Fun!

Halloween was a much anticipated event around here! They were sooooo psyched up to get dressed up and go trick or treating this year. Grammie & Grandad came down to observe the excitement first hand and were not disappointed. : )

After a fast supper, they got ready to hit the streets, or in our case "half a street". We went down to the farm & back and then went the other way for a bit too. They ended up with quite a haul. Since we get so few kids here, a lot of people have some amazing goodie bags to hand out. One house gave out a full can of pop, a full sized chocolate bar, a few candies and some playdough in their bags! The girls were very good at each place & remembered to say thank you almost every single time. One house even gave Murphy a dog treat. They do it every year & although he's only ever been to that house twice in his life, he was chomping at the bit as we came up the walk. He knew!

Trimming

Lovey insisted on having her hair cut on Friday. She's mentioned the idea half heartedly a few times before but usually has changed her mind when I ask her about it. Not yesterday. She was determined & I wasn't able to dissuade her this time. I was so sad to cut off those beautiful long curls! As much of a pain they are to brush, they were just too pretty to really mind. So we did away with the tresses and here is her brand new look.

As you can see, she was terribly upset with her rash decision. I hope she's learned her lesson.

Me, Myself & I

as I like to say, "it's digital, NOT magical!" but photoshop can do nice little tricks like whiten teeth, hide blemishes and oh a few other things I'm not going to tell you needed work ;)

I've been spending a lot of time (too much no doubt!) on a photography/photoshop forum. It's a super friendly group of people who are mostly real professional photographers who all have an interest in learning & sharing what they already know about photoshop. It's a great spot & I'm definitely picking up lots. The other day there was a challenge to create a photo to be included in your signature so everyone could "see" everyone else when they posted. I'm rarely in the photos although I try to pop in now & then just so the kids will know they had a mother some of the time when they were little! Here's what I came up with & some out takes!

If you're looking to learn, I highly recommend the Phaunt Forum, it's a fun spot!

Weekend Busy Bodies

The weekend blew by in a hurry! On Saturday I went to my circuit class at the gym, stayed afterwards & did a little extra cardio (where are the results darnit?!?!?!? oh, maybe the cookies took care of them....) came home for lunch, cruelly dragged my kids outside for some family togetherness, knowing that Sunday would be a write off. While they were playing on the swingset with Murray, I snuck back inside & had a 20 minute nap before going off to do family pictures for a friend of mine from the multiples group.
When I got home, Murray had started sandwiches for the kids since he & I were going out for dinner. We got them finished up & cleaned up & when Laura got here, we bailed since we were starving!
We were going to try a new Chinese restaurant but got there to find that it's so new, they're not even open yet and went to Boston Pizza instead. Big mistake. I think we'd have gotten faster service waiting for the other place to finish their decor, train their staff and open the place. There were at least 3 empty tables & 4 hostesses hanging around their desk and it still took 15 minutes to get a seat. By the time we ordered it was 7:25. Having had a super long delay on a previous BP visit, I decided to actually watch the time to see if it really took as long as it felt or if it was just my stomach! I asked the server how long she thought the food would be & she said about 20 minutes. Thank heaven my meal came with a salad because our meals didn't get here til 8:05! In the meantime, the cell rings. Uh oh. Crap. Do we have to go home?????

Laura: umm, sorry to have to phone you, but uh there's a dead mouse in the basement.

Kelly: (whew, kids are still alive, we can stay!) oh, well, don't worry about that, PW will take care of it or we will when we get home. You're sure it's dead?

Laura: ummm it's head is missing so yeah, it's dead.

Kelly: (crap. is she terrified of mice & in need of our immediate assistance????) just ignore it, we definitely don't expect you to look after that ok?

Laura: ok then.

Somehow this conversation does not deter us in the least or detract from our hunger. When the food finally arrives we plow through it in record time. When she asks if we'd like to order dessert I look at her like she's got two heads. Ummm yeah because I have another hour to waste sitting here? We were supposed to go order new glasses for Murray but by the time we got out of there & over to the mall, the store was closed. So for our big night out we went to Walmart & Chapters just because it was too early to go home! LOL

When we did get there, we didn't get a good report. The kids "missed us" at bedtime & I think they threw some pretty good freak outs for her. She looked a little tired! We left around 6:45 & were home by 10 & Sweetie had only fallen asleep 20 minutes before we got there. Not a good sign. We paid her for 5 hours just to try & bribe her into coming back again someday. We'll see if that worked or not!
Sunday morning we were off to church despite a rocky start! After service the girls had cherub choir practice for their big debut next week! (we'll see if that actually happens or not! they were supposed to sing a VBS song this week but Sweetie was terrified to stand up there & cried & clung to Murray instead)
After that, we headed out for a quick bite to eat before going back to the church hall for Fall Fest. The kids played games, decorated cupcakes, coloured pictures & helped Murray carve his best pumpkin ever!
Once the festivities wrapped up, we zipped home for a pee break & to collect our first born & head to M&D's for Sunday night dinner. I slep the whole way there & would have gladly conked out on the comfy couch but decided that wasn't too polite & helped set the table instead.
By the time we got home we were pretty wiped out! and to make matters worse, we'd forgotten Bunny at my parents' house!!!!!!!!!! There was much wailing and carrying on about that & for the next night too and any time she wakes up DURING the night. It has slowly gotten a little less intense but she talks about Bunny all the time and how she misses her & how Bunny's having a sleepover at Grammie's, Bunny's making lists of things for Grammie to give her for dinner (mostly carrots, carrot mush, carrot soup etc) and asks several times a day how long til Friday????

Random Saturday Torture

Even PW likes a good walk!

another forced family outing. Only took 20 minutes of nagging & cajoling to get everyone out for this fun filled walk together! Why they have to fight it so hard every time is beyond me. It's not like we tie them to the back of the car & drag them up & down the asphalt! After we got back home, they ended up playing outside for another hour!

who can resist a girl with a twirl?????

Check out our Halloween decorations!
