Grammie's Day

I had a busy day! Most of the morning was easy, and then when Mumma got here at lunch time I was out the door. I had the girls outside for a bit waiting for her to arrive. Here's when they spotted her car coming down the road.

Not too enthused or anything are they????

I wanted to get all my shopping done for the Mothers' Day party I'm planning for the multiples group next Tuesday night. I had to get the oil changed on the car first so that slowed things down bit. Once that was done, I was able to start hitting all my destinations and get some stuff done!

So far it's shaping up nicely, lots of attendees, most of whom have already paid for their ticket which is a bonus! I've got students from the massage college coming in to 'practice' on us, loads of munchies & desserts, many prizes to give away, a little take home for everyone who comes. I'm really looking forward to it. We had a really good time last year so I expect it'll go over well again. I sooooo enjoy this group & the support & encouragement everyone gives me as well as each other. The clothing sale just went by & everyone came together to make it run smoothly & had a fun time doing it. So today I ran around picking up all the gift certificates we're giving away, bought all the food so I can make what I need to & now everything's pretty much ready.

Big scrapping day tomorrow so I have to get my rest! Murray's mom's in town for a school event so he's taking the girls to go visit her after he drops me off tomorrow morning. The girls will enjoy seeing Nanny & I think she's pretty keen on seeing them too!

Wednesday Stuff

Yay Wednesday! We went to playgroup and a great time was had by all. There are now several Little Tikes cars so everyone gets more frequent turns AND one of them is purple so it is just perfect for Miss H who will pass up a turn in the red car & wait for her favourite to become available. They were disappointed when it was time to go & were reluctant to put on coats & boots until everyone else had left & all the toys were put away. Then and only then did I convince them it was time to go.
Another sunny day so we went outside to play. I think it's so great for them to be outdoors more, get the fresh air & just run around. They helped me carry the remaining branches from the cedar bush & dump them in the woods. They love to help and are quite happy to tramp around the yard with me, whatever I'm working on.
I'm trying to get the camera out daily & practice with these confounded manual settings. I have the theory that if I just keep doing it over and over, it will eventually come naturally and there won't be so much fiddling around & I'll be able to shoot on the fly! Sometimes I get good results and sometimes they're a flop and I still don't seem to be able to "plan" the good ones. Thank goodness for digital, I don't have to worry about wasting film on my crap shoot approach!!
My Honey

My Lovey
My Sweetie

I thought I'd play around with the editing software & see how black & white looked. I always find it so striking when others do it. But when I try it? It's just a colourless photo...

Blow me a kiss Honey!

I was trying to get Honey to smile without giving me the big "CHEESE" look. I decided I'd ask her a question. "Who makes you happy Honey?" I expected that she'd think of her favourite stuffed animal, Baa-bee and that it would bring a natural smile to her face. Instead, she very seriously replied "My Sweetie" awwwww!!!

Daisylions

Haven't heard of this particular breed of flower? Don't worry, it's verrrrrrry new. We have a new hobby. In the afternoons we go for a walk in the stroller in search of this very rare plant. And we pick and we pick and we pick. Today they picked until their little hands were red from the cold. I kept offering mittens but apparently that would slow the picking down too much. Lovey was the only taker on hand coverage. Eventually I was able to tempt the other two but for quite awhile Honey just kept repeating "nope, we're not done picking flowers YET."
I forgot what, but I said something she didn't like... nice pout eh?

Note exotic bloom clutched in her hand. A rare beauty to be sure!

The DaisyLion dance!

I am the lucky recipient of about 100 of these a day. If these catch on, I could make a killing.

Mondays with Teena are BACK!

Teena's project was to paint coffee filters, then fan fold them & secure with a pipe cleaner which doubled as antennae. We then added a string and they ran all over "flying" their butterflies.

Hooray! After many empty Mondays, Teena & Boo were back today! Between the 4 kids, and all their variations of sickness, we missed out usual get togethers several weeks in a row. The girls were all excited to see each other & ran around & played the entire time they were here. We managed to pin them down for a few minutes to eat but not for long.

Teena had several surprises up her sleeve when she arrived today! She's a great friend to have & I'd recommend her to anyone except that I hate to share her! She's mine!!!! Not only does she come to my entertainment rescue most Mondays, she always brings stuff with her. Sometimes it's a snack, sometimes it's a game but it always adds tremendously to my day and makes my life easier. Just having her walk through the door can tip any day into the positive end of the spectrum. You know the saying "a trouble shared is a trouble halved" ? Well having Teena around is sort of like that. Nothing seems as hard or unpleasant when that smile & sunny disposition enter the room. I was dreading today! Sweetie was up ALOT last night & I eventually fell asleep in her room one of the times I went in to try to comfort her. If the interrupted sleep wasn't bad enough, I'd gotten hooked on a new Mary Higgins Clark & didn't turn out the light til almost 1am. So I was tired and not in the mood for any triple trouble today. By 9:00am I was on my 2nd phone call to Teena, trying to see if they were available to play with us today. When my first message still wasn't returned after 15 minutes I was starting to get antsy & had to phone again around 9. We were in luck and despite getting locked out of her house & her car stalling, she & Boo made it over shortly before lunch time. She came well prepared too! She brought fruit for lunch and a craft for us all to do together. Besides this, she also brought me a nice card & some McD's gift certificates to thank me for taking Anna's picture! Totally unnecessary, it's good practice for me & only took 10 minutes when they were here one day. So THANK YOU Teena, for the millionth time, I find myself being so glad all our kids were born so close together & we can enjoy all this stuff at the same time!!!

Appreciation Sunday

Today at church was appreciation Sunday for all the volunteer Sunday School teachers. I had the cookies all baked yesterday but then decided this morning (THIS MORNING!) that the girls should also make some sort of picture or card to take in to the toddler room attendants. Breakfast went pretty smoothly & it was all cleared away and it seemed like a good idea. I got a big piece of paper & wrote "thanks" in block letters and got Lovey to start first. She very diligently stuck 246 sequin flowers to the letter that I'd spread glue onto for her. She was very careful & did a great job filling it all in. I then got her to fill in another letter with Popsicle sticks. For the first bit, Honey & Sweetie were playing in the living room unawares. They caught on somewhere around halfway through Lovey's second letter. I then tried to get Sweetie to work on a couple of letters and send Lovey off for cleanup. Nothing doing there! She wanted to do some more & Honey wanted in on the action too. Lovey didn't take to well to being all done but there was only a mild screaming fit & was fairly short lived at that. Eventually the sign got decorated but was very wet from all the glue. I had to take the hairdryer to it! but it worked & was ready for transport when it was time to go. We managed to get to church & I was only a little bit late for choir practice. It was worth it though! Murray said the teachers really liked it & was the only thing anyone brought. (although cake & a token of appreciation were at the reception after church was over).

After lunch, Murray decided to get rid of one of our tall tall cedars. They've never really done anything to me other than block the view & sunlight a bit but I've always disliked them. (maybe because they make a really good hiding place for stalkers & serial killers...) Regardless, I was happy to see them go & am looking forward to seeing the one on the other side of the door go toppling soon!
It'll soon be time to start building on our new & improved entrance way. I can't wait to be able to walk in , turn around and possibly even sit down to take off my shoes without trampling someone else, tripping over 27 shoes, boots, mitts, coats, sneakers and other outerwear paraphernalia!

Once Paul Bunyon here was done his work, we headed up to my parents' for supper but I managed to stay awake for the whole visit this week!
