Puppy Love

We all love Murphy. Who wouldn't? That chocolatey face and sad eyes get me every time. Lovey though seems to especially adore him. Any time she notices him, she'll stop what she's doing and go over to give him a hug or just sit by him and pat him for a minute. She's the first one to ask for the leash when we're out for a walk. She doesn't mind keeping pace with him & hanging back when the others race on ahead. She's patient with him and talks to him and shares her breakfast with him. If she could get him to sleep on her bed, her life would be perfect. I love watching her gentleness and patience as her world narrows down to just the two of them in their special moments. It is no wonder that he generously gives her his affection in return.

Murray thinks this may be his all time favourite picture I've ever taken!

Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful

so let's go play in it!!!! The kids got home from school, dropped their backpacks and went straight back out into the snow. They built a fort, slid on the hill and ran around with the dog (who really can only hobble lately). They were out there for over an hour before they started to get cold. Maybe they should have been shovelling more? I wasn't cold in the least! Tulip and the girls next door were here also so it was quite the snow party!

After supper we played Monopoly but Sweetie was too busy to join us. Fortunately it's only a 4 player game anyway so it worked out ok :)

BFF's

Sweetie's friend next door got a set of necklaces for Christmas. They match but each one has different coloured stones in it. Next to the pendant is a little metal tag that is stamped with the letters "BF". She gave one to Sweetie last week and Sweetie is in LOVE with it. She has worn it EVERY day since she got it. She has learned how to work the clasp herself. At night she takes it off for bed & lays it on top of her clothes for the next day so she won't forget to put it on. It is so cute!

Guess Who Lost the 1st Tooth???

Teeth have been of great interest lately! When they actually remember to think about it, there is MUCH discussion on who in their class has lost any and they like to check their own out every once in awhile & look for any wigglers! When this girl got off the bus today, I was totally unprepared for the answer to "Guess what happened today Mumma!!!!"

We just noticed that she had a loose front tooth the other day and that the new one was already pushing through the gums. She didn't really want to mess around with it although it wouldn't have taken much to pull it out.

Well out it came today! It was actually an accident. She and another girl were talking on the bus and the other girl was waving her mittens around and one brushed the loose tooth and that was it! As soon as it happened, she thanked the other girl because she'd been wanting to get that tooth out but was afraid to pull on it.

When Lovey got to school, somehow with the tooth still in her possession, one of the teachers gave her this cool case to keep the tooth in til she got home. As soon as I realized she'd lost the tooth at school, I started asking "where is it now??? do you still have it??? did you lose it on the bus???" but she was so excited telling me the story that she couldn't stop to answer me. I had to wait for the whole thing to be told before she could let me know it was safe in her bookbag. I was a little sad that I didn't get to see her when it happened but it's fun seeing her excitement after the fact too. I now present the cutest little toothless wonder you ever did see! It's funny to remember back when I found the first tooth that came in (Sweetie) and now we're all excited again over the reverse!

Sweetie has had wiggler for months. The dentist detected it ages ago but at the time it wasn't even noticeable to us, only to his expertly trained eye or something. Now that Lovey beat her out of the gate, she's more invested in getting that tooth moving! She's been evaluating the progress in the mirror often this evening!

Dance Class!

The girls went to their first lesson this weekend! Even Sweetie!! I had avoided reminding them that it was coming up so that I wouldn't have to listen to her wail and carry on about having to go. While I was at the gym that morning, she asked Murray when they were going and he showed her on the calendar and she was ok with it! Later in the day she told me she couldn't wait, she was so excited for dance class. Wahoo! we've got it made!!!! until it was actually time to go out the door and she mumbled "this is ruining my WHOLE Saturday!" Murray sternly told her to just GET in the car! LOL

There aren't too many in the class so that will be nice & they have 2 instructors. As I fought for position at the one decent glass door to get pictures, I could see smiles on every little girl's face in the room. They were having a blast in there! Lots of skipping & hopping, what's not to like???

After it was over, we asked what they thought. Actually Lovey didn't even wait to be asked. She burst out of the room with: I LOVED THAT!!!!!!!!! why did it have to be so SHORT????

Honey thought some of the steps were too hard and that she won't be able to do it. Sweetie was undecided until I told her we'd be there watching every Saturday and she said "well, I guess I'll do it then. Watching is boring!"
