With drama wrapped up, we're moving into singing season! The choir has been working on several pieces and had a couple of performances on Saturday at the school fundraiser. The girls enjoyed last year's 60's themed medley so much that I don't think anything is going to compare, although they are looking forward to doing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy!
It's funny when they come home and tell me all about the "new" song they've started working on. They are shocked each time I'm able to jump in and sing along with them or give them the next line before they sing it. "How do YOU know THAT song Mummy???" Muahhaha, I know all, I see all dearies!!! Plus, I'm like, really really old and stuff. haha!

Spring? Is that YOU???
We don't want to get too crazy around here but it looks like spring may be approaching! If the rate that our sub pumps are running is any indication, melt is full steam ahead this week! So far they're managing the water very well and our floors have been dry since Murray installed them a couple years ago. Best home improvement job ever!
The pavement was so dry that the girls were anxious to get their bikes out for a spin! Every year Lovey has been nervous about biking and very rarely got up enough speed to stay upright or coast at all. This time, she was off like a shot and zipping around like mad! No fear this year! Plus she'd accessorized appropriately and was looking pretty fine!
Sweetie has figured out how to pedal standing up so she'll be rocket this year no doubt! Honey is perfectly happy to bike along at her own pace and enjoyed the ride as much as anyone. It felt great to be out after supper and enjoying the evening in the daylight!!!

Fun in the Sun!
We saw an opportunity to enjoy the weather and we seized it! The kids had the day off (again!) and it looked sunny out. I suggested we go see how warm it was on the deck and they declared it picnic weather! We made our lunches and some lemonade slushies and out we went. That small window of sunshine did a lot for our wintry blahs! We stayed out quite awhile and practiced some yoga poses on the deck railing. Seeing as how the snow was still 10 feet high, it wasn't as risky as it looked and they thought it was incredibly dangerous and felt quite daring!
Good times and happy memories!

Hit the road Jack!
A great evening! The kids hopped on bikes and Lovey was so excited to try hers out that she got all her violin done BEFORE supper so she'd have lots of time after eating to play outside! They recruited the girls next door to join them on the expedition and they ran and raced around having a great time.
Yay for warmer evenings that aren't dark!!!

Parrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrty!
The girls love a party! Getting ready for Murray's birthday was quite an event in itself! They dug out all the decorating stuff they could find and set to working together to make the place as festive as possible. I was busy cleaning up and baking the birthday cake. They were not only getting along, but working TOGETHER COOPERATIVELY, no way was I going to mess with that! However, i decided to have a look at one point and all I could think was "too bad that isn't a rolling desk chair she's using!" Safety is paramount here at our house you know! Luckily their innovative methods were successful and no trips to emergency were required.
Grammie, Grandad and Uncle Dale came to help celebrate and we had some of Murray's favourite food for dinner, salmon! The fancy stuffed kind from Costco! It was delicious but the price is a bit of a deterrent as a regular menu item! I also got a roaster chicken for the anti-fish folks (that'd be everyone except Mum, Murray & I!)
Murray enjoyed his party and gifts (nicely restocked his candy stash!) and the kids got some Super Mario time with Uncle Dale after supper. He zipped them through another level before leaving so that was an exciting development!

Violin Dry Run
To
get ready for violin competition week, Lovey's teacher put together a
small concert so the kids could practice their pieces in front of an
audience. This is the stuff Lovey lives for, a crowd! She carefully
chose her outfit and accessories. She requested that I put her hair in a
bun and off we went!
Just before it was her turn, her teacher announced her and said "I just have to tell you, your hair looks perfect! She always likes to make sure her hair is good before she starts to play!" It cracked us up because it's so true, Lovey always does a quick pat to make sure it's all ok before she goes up. Hockey players have playoff beards right? Well this is her good luck ritual maybe! Playing in front of people doesn't concern her but she will NOT have a bad hair day doing it! As usual she gave a strong performance and sounded lovely!
