Happy V day!

Hope everyone's having a sweeeeeeeet day! We had a busy one here! I got up with the girls & got their breakfast & baked a cake before heading to my class at the gym, then did a bit more cardio & got home for lunch. After lunch we zipped off to C&J's bday bowling party. The kids all had a great time. It was a little chaotic as all these preschoolers were jus grabbing balls & running up and lobbing them down the lane, their turn or not. Teena & I were trying to instill some order to it but it's not a two girl job! and were soon outnumbered and tired out :) I'm still a bit tired from the Thursday night escapades anyway so it didn't take much to tucker me out today.

Enjoy the rest of your Valentine's Day! Murray & I are about to kick it with a game of scrabble!

Sleeeeeeeeeeep Over with my other girls :)

Having learned NOTHING from my last experience, I invited Babycakes & Fkoas (stands for fat kid on a smartie because that's how fast she's all over me when I sign in to MSN messenger) for another sleep(less)over. They got to our house at suppertime and promptly took over the rec room :) Sweetie, Lovey & Honey were looking forward to them coming alllllllllll day. So they were pretty pumped when supper was over & they could actually go play! They got to try some Wii tennis & bowling, build some boxes with the tiles and a bunch of other stuff before we got them settled into bed.

One little side bonus of having teenagers over is that if you need to go to the store while your husband is out for a run, YOU CAN! I hadn't had a chance to pick up any snacks in the afternoon and was thinking I"d have to wait for Murray to get back before I could make a run when it hit me! There were two pro's downstairs, I was optional!!!!!!!! So I bolted :)

I got Fkoas to bring her flat iron and Babycakes used the one I have & those two really worked some magic! My hair looked (and is still hanging in there!) awesome! Even the instructor of my circuit class commented how silky smooth it is! I'm pretty sure the two of them must have spent close to an hour on it so it's no wonder I don't often tackle this myself. Another bonus to being good friends with teenagers! They have lots of time to spend on you and think it's fun! :)

These girls keep me on my toes & I learn so much from them. We chat constantly online and get into all sorts of crazy topics and they make me laugh so hard with the videos they find for me and the stories they share. I love them to bits and am so glad they enjoy spending time with someone of my advanced age! :) Not only do they adore me (if i do say so myself ;))) they looooooooooooove my kids and help me out with them at the drop of a hat. Anytime that Murray can't make it to church, all I have to say is "can you..." and they're already nodding their heads and grabbing little hands & leading them off to sit with them while I go with the choir. Not even a hint of reluctance or annoyance, just immediate & willing assistance. When they're here, they get right down to play with them and they have so much fun. Fkoas snuck Sweetie off to another room and let her use her cell phone to call me in the kitchen. Sweetie thought this was just WILD!!! lol My girls obviously think these two are on pedestals and will sometimes ditch Murray to go sit with them anyway. I couldn't ask for better people for them to look up to & consider myself very blessed with their friendship. They are soooooooooo fetch!!!!!!!! (don't ask!)
As fun as they are, they're hard to keep up with! I hung in there but at 2:30am, I was done & went up to bed but they didn't crash til 4am or so. Not sure how they manage that kind of schedule but it didn't seem to slow them down any & were up when my girls went tearing downstairs to get them at 7am. With my free babysitting perks, I managed to get to the gym Friday morning and catch a class so that was really nice! When I got back, all 5 girls were cuddled up on the pull out, watching Enchanted & Fkoas was straightening Lovey's hair because Lovey had asked her to. How cute is that? Totally girl bonding time or what? : )))
So all in all, I'd say this was another successful event & likely to be repeated if they're willing :)

Just Hangin' Around

Well Tarzan, eat your heart out! You got nothin' on our jungle mister! Our resident knot expert, Sweetie, decided to put the new skipping ropes from Nanny & Grampy to good use. She tied them to the upper part of the banister in the stairway and started swinging on them. Yep.

As you can see, she took plenty of safety precautions by using three separate ropes to distribute the weight & not have to rely on just ONE. All very sensible & practical.

I'm not sure whether I was more horrififed, amazed or impressed.

I mean, you can obviously tell she knows what she's doing. Look at that grip! that form!

Skipping ropes have now been removed and will not be accessible until they actually learn to skip (although how they'll accomplish this without the ropes, I'm not sure!)

El Paquete de Amor!

The doorbell rang while we were eating supper last night & we were surprised. Who could be coming over at that time of day? We're not so popular that we get loads of random drop ins or anything! It was the mailman, holding this big paquete!

They did an amazing job finishing off their dinners so they could get into that box!!! LOL

Nanny & Grampy had sent some valentine's goodies, woohoo!!!!!!!

They loved their parcel, thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Sunny Snow Fun!

We had a great day the other day. We all went to this winter theme day and checked out the activities. There were plenty of things to see and do and the kids loved crawling around on all the stuff made of snow.

The big thing though was trying out the sliding runs. Pretty impressive and I can only imagien how much work went into all this temporary stuff. One good ice rain storm or a sudden warm-ish day with a bit of rain could have ruined everything. Luckily it was all intact when we got there.

A very popular event and we should have gotten there earlier but I just haaaaaaaaaad to go to my circuit class so we didn't get there til almost 11:30 (it started at 10). Some of the lines were long but the straight slides were quicker to get to. It was the twisty run that took them over half an hour to get on.

Look at those smiles! Totally worth every minute! :)

They also had free pony rides so we thought we should get in on those. However after 10 minutes in line, the ponies went on break for 40 minutes. The kids ran into a schoolmate and were happily playing around in the snow so I decided to hold our spot in the line & see how long they'd be content. They stayed & played the whole break. Most people left once they saw the ponies weren't on duty so that put us right at the front. Once they came back, there was hardly any more wait at all. They looooooooved their ride and were so happy! THe hour of standing around was a bit boring though so I don't know if I'd do that again.

Much to my annoyance, my camera froze up (I forgot to tuck it in my jacket while we waited) and this is the only picture I got of the whole pony experience. Ugh!
Around 2:30 we headed for the bathrooms and got to the car a bit before 3pm. A lot of people were leaving around the same time and the place was gridlocked. It took TWO hours to get from the parking lot to the street. OH MY LAND. talk about frustrating. We were all kindof hungry and all I had left in our knapsack was a granola bar & one apple. Sweetie was a bit wet inside her snowsuit & it seemed to make her itchy. which she felt the need to scream about for quite some time. Honey was cranky because she hadn't wanted to leave in the first place. Lovey was the child of the day as she sat in her seat, not even complaining about anything! It was a long two hours but we got to practice my choir songs several times and we can really rock out "A Lord Built House" and "Pray for the People" (those are their two favourites of the 8 on the CD that my choir is working on now).
We were supposed to have supper at Nicolle & Kyle's house and had planned to be there for 4pm. Leaving around 2:30, this gave us an hour and a half for the 30 minutes it should take to get home, pick up the dessert I'd made & drive over there. At 3:40 we had only moved one or two car lengths so I decided I'd better warn them we'd be late. After another hour, I had to phone back again to say we were actually making progress & were on our way! We were so glad to get out of there. Murray's never going back to that place again lol
We had a great supper at their place! We were starving so wolfed down everything they gave us! The kids had a blast playing with their kids and they got to watch a Barbie movie they'd never seen and were very happy campers!
