Sad State of Affairs!

A rather pitiful statement on what I consider a "good time" these days!!!!! Today I got to go to the dentist. I always like it when I am the one who neeeeeds to get ready & leave in the morning & he has to stay home with the kids. I don't think I'd like it all the time but every once in awhile it is a little bit of fun to be able to say "oh! can't deal with that right now, gotta run, good luck with that honey! buh-bye!!!" It's almost worth having a cavity so I can get a 2nd appointment!! No such "luck" this time though, clean checkup : ))) After I was done, I even dilly dallied by going to get our insurance reimbursment before coming home. I even brought my book so I could read while I waited my turn. Of all the stupid luck, there wasn't a single other person in the place. I didn't even get to take a number and sit down! : (

When I got home, Murray was ready to go & the kids were watching cartoons (hey, that's my back up, what the heck's he doing pulling that out at 8:30am? how bad could his day have been by that point???) I let them watch for a little longer as I burned a CD for that family photo session I did last week (she was coming to pick it up this morning). After that we went upstairs for a snack (and clean up breakfast, what? was he on VACATION?????) and get dressed. Then they wanted to paint so I now have a very interesting work that is supposed to be of our wedding : ))).

While I was cleaning the bathroom, Honey was in the hallway saying wistfully:
I wish I could be just like you Mumma!
I wish I could have long hair like yours!
I wish I had precious gems like you!
I wish I was tall! (I'm thiking, awww isn't this sweet! she wants to be just like me!!!)
I want clothes like you Mumma.
I wish I had a big bum like yours Mumma. (pop! there goes my bubble...)

They are growing though. Honey looked older than when I saw her at supper last night. I find it amazing when they get up in the morning and look different than the kid we put to bed the night before! They're wavering now between wanting to be little girls and wanting to get big (and have big butts) and be able to do big kid stuff.

After lunch we went for a walk & raided a neighbour's property that's away on vacation. I prefer to think of it as making the place look active & warding off would be looters ; ))) They had a blast running on the little walkway, climbing the rock wall, sitting on the cedar rail fences & the old benches & peeking in the patio door to see if the baby twins were visiting (they were home once & we stopped by to visit but didn't go in). Honey & Lovey tried to hold hands & jump on the count of three off the little wall but never could get it in sync but they tried and tried. So maybe that fancy swimming sport won't be for them....

We came home in time to get supper on & a batch of cookies made and had dinner at a decent time when Murray got here.

Friday's Coming!

Wow! Thursday night again... how can some days seem so long & yet the weeks keep flying by?

Yesterday of course went just beautifully, being Wednesday and all! Playgroup in the morning, then off to gymnastics, home to play outdoors for awhile & then a leisurely bath (for them, not for me unfortunately!). When Murray came home we went back into town for Family Fellowship dinner at the church. Yummy meal, lemon chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and apple crumble & ice cream for dessert! The kids did really well & behaved beautifully. Sweetie, with a little prompting, turned to the lady next to her and said "Pass the bread please?" She realllllly wanted a roll!!! Lovey just ate bread but the other two did a half decent job on their meal. It was actually just one kids' meal & we split it between them... they were much more enthusiastic about the icecream! (surprise, surprise!)

Once supper was over, Murray was on his own... I had a class at church. We're studying the book "Captivating" . I wasn't sure how he'd make out but he said it went fine. They should have been tired out enough to settle down nicely in bed, but I wasn't sure how they'd react to me leaving them there & how Murray would make out getting them out & into the car etc. but he's such a pro now, they didn't give him any trouble!

Murray's changed up his routine and now gets up at 5am to go for his run, rather than do it in the evening. After the kids go to bed, I go for a walk with a neighbour down the street & then come home, work on pictures, watch some tv & avoid housework as much as possible! He usually waits for me to get back from my walk & then goes for his run & then stays up all hours of the night programming Road Hockey. He's getting up too early to do that now & actually goes to bed by 11. Either way he's running in the dark!

New Kid on the Block

We have a new cousin in the family, named after her father's favourite beer, which luckily wasn't "Moosehead"! We'll just call her Brenda Jr. instead ok? ; ))) I took the girls over for a visit to meet her & they all wanted to bring her something, they went and found a couple of baby toys & Sweetie decided to give her the hand embroidered Mexican dress I bought back when I used to live there. (which much to my annoyance, I forgot to wear on my OWN children after saving it for 10 years!)

They were fascinated with BJ! They wanted to touch her hands, her head, her face. It was definitely love at first sight. I took lots of pictures and while I was doing that, they put Shona to work reading stories to them. So much for a break for her! However, we did bring dinner & dessert so hopefully that provided some relief later on. One of my other cousins, Simon, heard we were going over & asked me to bring him along as he was quite anxious to meet BJ too. We decided to make a day of it & brought him home with us & fed him some non-cafeteria food for a change which he much appreciated. It was all pretty last minute so I didn't have anything ready to send back to the dorm with him but there's always next time!

Earlier today, we had a visit from our Early Intervention lady & the girls painted some very orange pumpkins to add to our wall of art.

Toddler Chat

Today at lunch, they started talking about best friends. I asked each of them who their best friend was.

Honey: You Mumma!

Lovey: Anna!

Sweetie: Boys!

Now which one do you think is going to give me the most trouble later on??????
