First Day of Grade 2!

School is now in session! The girls were ready & raring to go this morning and were out to the bus stop with time to spare. I wonder how many days I'll be able to say that this year? Not too many I expect!

Sweetie had some trouble sleeping last night and took forever to settle down. I think she may have been a bit anxious! This morning she told us she was worried because she couldn't remember where her new classroom was. Since it was right beside Honey's new class & Honey knew where that was, I told Sweetie to follow Honey. It was a great plan in theory. Or it would have been if Honey hadn't forgotten about it and left her sisters behind when she got off the bus first!

Not to worry, my little problem solver took care of the situation and went inside the school and asked someone (she's not too sure who) for help finding her new teacher and they got her to the right place.

Everyone was happy with their new teachers and to see their friends again. They were even more thrilled to come home to tell me there was homework tonight, for ME! I had 3 sets of contact info, emergency numbers, health info etc to fill out. Since it's only one night a year I think I got off pretty easy but made sure to grumble and complain so they could fully enjoy me doing my homework!

I made Classy Chicken (Lovey will even eat the broccoli in this meal!) for supper and we celebrated with a back to school chocolate cake! Unfortunately it was the only cake mix I had in the house & I was in a hurry & I'd forgotten that Honey doesn't like that kind. Uh oh. I was in BIG trouble. She had a huge fit upstairs, crying her eyes out about the flavour and how it was UNFAIR!!!!!!!!! When I didn't seem to react to this display, she took her show on the road to come find me downstairs to scream it into my face in case I hadn't heard properly. When I still didn't pay attention she started hollering "You're NOT LISTENING to me." Finally I looked at her and said "I'm listening & I can hear you fine, I just don't like how you're talking to me." Now that she knew I was paying attention, she switched back to the banshee mantra of "UNFAIR" until I told her to take that voice up to her room. She stormed off in a huff. Want to know the worst part? I actually felt bad for not making a cake that they would all enjoy. :(  We did have a discussion about her behaviour later though as I couldn't just let that go!

As you can see, she got over it :)
