Day Off!

Saturday was great! We did not have to be up & out the door by 8am as we have been doing all week for VBS. I didn't have to wakethe kids & drag them out of bed. They could rest & sleep in all they wanted. But of course, they DIDN'T WANT!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweetie comes and crawls in with me at 6:46!!!!!!! Four mornings in a row I had to go in to HER room, raise the blind, turn off the fan and pull her blankets off and this after calling her a few times and giving her 5-10 minutes of extra sleep! There's some kind of weekend sensor in their brain, I swear!

With all the hectic activity this week, Murphy's been missing out on walks, we haven't been getting out daily like we used to. So yesterday, we took him twice! Once before lunch and again after supper. These shots are all from the morning excursion.

With nowhere to be and nothing to do at any particular time, it was a pretty lazy day! The kids were in the pool for awhile and then decided they'd move into the playhouse. They managed to drag ALOT of stuff out there in a very short time! They each had their pillows, a cardboard box for a "toybox" filled with Barbies, animals, gadgets and small toys. Honey brought her tooth box, Lovey & Sweetie brought their plaster bunnies, plus their stuffed animals. I mentioned that they couldn't really live out there, they didn't even have a bathroom! The next time I turned around, I saw two kids dashing across the lawn. One was carrying the potty and the other had as many pullups as she could carry! Solved that little situation, didn't they?
While they were in the process of moving in, I was busy mowing the lawn and discovered a neat trick! The mower works MUCH better with the chute snapped onto the side so the grass can be expelled from the blade area. I always wondered why it wasn't on but I rarely mow the lawn so never spent too much time worrying about it. But since the grass was very long and a little wet, I was stopping every few feet to dislodge the buildup and restart the mower. I'd had enough. That was IT! I was going to ransack that garage, search high & low! There MUST have been something that came with the new mower to prop that flap open! So I marched into the garage and found it immediately lying on the tool bench. Brand new, never used and I popped that sucker on and the rest of the job flew! I'd better take it off now that I'm done though as Murray obviously prefers the other way :P
We played in the backyard all afternoon and eventually went in for supper which was leftovers, courtesy of Nanny & Grampy! Easy peasy! Then we had another walk after supper and the girls got their bedtime stories and adios amigos, off to bed!

My poor rhubarb patch. Why oh why won't it grow??? It was right beside the driveway and got a little rocky from the snow shovelling over the winter. So I dug a new spot by the garage, filled it with 5-6 bags of dark soil, transplanted them, and have been watering and weeding as necessary. Are we the only people on earth that can't cultivate a rhubarb patch?!?!?!? Isn't this the plant that is an overbearing, take over the garden, grow so fast no one could possibly eat all it produces, kind of plant?????????
