Jackin' Worms

Hopefully this is not an illegal form of hunting in these parts! Awwww, who am I kidding? All hunting is encouraged, welcome and acceptable round these here parts! :) or so I assume by the gunshots we hear after dark!

Sweetie doing a little prep work on the container lid.
Ta Dah! Jackpot!!!

Sweetie has been asking for a new pet for a few days. I'm not sure where she got the idea but I think her father's story of his own similar experience may have had something to do with it and therefore he's in charge of making sure she doesn't kill the poor thing and will be looking after any associated messes from spills etc.

Sooooooo she wanted a worm. She wants to love it & hug it & squeeze it and call it Suzie. OK, well she wants to keep it in a jar of mud in her room..... allllllllllll winter.

Tonight after supper they all got their headlamps on and grabbed shovels from the garage and started digging up the front lawn. They didn't have much luck there and moved to the backyard where the strawberry cum weed patch is. After only a few shovelfuls Murray found the wiggly pink slimy treasure and a cry went up from the crowd!

We loaded up an old plastic container and put Suzie in her new home where she'll be spied on and shaken up at oddly random intervals until she slowly loses her little mind or manages to escape during one of the frequent yet strictly forbidden jar openings!
