Another Weekend Flies By!

The girls tried out Grandad's seat this weekend and thought that was pretty neat. None of them wanted to go near it while it was actually on though! I thought they might like going for a ride around the yard but nobody took Grandad up on his offer.

even Bunny had to try it out!

Honey made this pin in Sunday school and was told to give it to a friend so she decided Murray should have it. She was pretty sure he'd like it so much that he'd wear it every day. His coworkers have yet to comment on his new accessory...

On the weekend Murray was in a race & partnered with his coworker Jason. Since they're both good long distance runners and Jason has done some triathlons, Murray felt their chances of winning were pretty good. Unfortunately their speed wasn't enough to secure the top spot and next year they plan to schedule more time for plotting their route & familiarizing themselves with the map prior to departure. Murray doesn't mind the fact that they didn't win, they were one of the few times that completed all the portions of the race. No, what really irks him is that he got beat by his little brother!

These salt stains on his shirt attest to the difficulty of the day!

The girls & I met him at the finish and we all went to a restaurant for supper so it was a pretty exciting event!
We also had the pleasure of a visit with Aunt Mandy who spent the afternoon with us while Andrew was racing. She didn't have Mr Bojangles with her but it made for less distractions which was nice too. (but don't pull that trick again Miss Manders or Aunt Kelly will beat you with her tripod!!!!!!!!)

Honey found this in my room at my parents' house on the weekend. She brought it to me and asked about it. I explained that it was my first Bible, that I'd gotten it when I was a little girl etc. Since she seemed so fascinated with it, I asked her if she'd like to have it and she was soooooooooo happy! I was pretty sure it would be just one more thing I'd be picking up off the floor the next day but she's on day 2 and still taking very good care of it. In fact, she likes to sit and "read" it quite often. Yesterday I was trying to get them moving so we could go outside as Dad was here working on the deck. I kept nagging at them and started the final warning when she gave a huge, exasperated sigh and said "ughhhhhhhhhh! can't I just SIT here and read my BIBLE?!?!?!?!" So now I'm wondering if I've put myself on the Hell Express by forcing her to stop reading her Bible to go out and play? Although, I might be ok since I let her bring it out with her and she got her lawn chair and did some more reading.
She really likes sitting and turning the pages, maybe because the paper is so different? or maybe because the book is just such a nice size for her to hold and manage easily? either way, she told Murray tonight that she really enjoys reading her Bible because she finds it so relaxing!
