Weekend at Grammie's!

Another successful family weekend at Grammie's/GG's. The kids were super excited about golf tournament weekend. You know how they love sports. NOT! They were keen to camp in the tent, do the three legged race, tug of war, candy scramble and watch fireworks. Compared to three hours of chasing a little white ball around, I'd say they're onto something.

We were fortunate to have family from near & far. My cousin Curtis would be the latter but he has come a few times to the tourney and has recruited Matt to come with him on the last couple trips.

The kids had a blast for the most part. There was a little trauma when the water balloon toss ended prematurely due to a rupture after the first throw. In fact "little" would be an understatement. It was an all out meltdown worthy of an award (not that we would do that of course but it was a pretty good one as far as intensity of feeling goes!)

My girls weren't the only ones having trouble with the balloon toss. Although BJ was upset that her balloon wasn't broken yet, while mine were cranky that theirs was.

No trophy for me this year but I had a great time catching up with my long lost cousin! Well, not really a cousin but she's pretty darn close! I hadn't seen her in over 6 years and I was lucky to be teamed up with her and was able to chat in between shots. I was super excited when I found out she was coming and was so glad to see her again!

Here's the boys getting ready for the big tug of war. The other team cheated again this year and we were pulled over the line in short order. Usually they tie their end to a tree or someone's car but this year they got sneaky and planted their anchor on the dry pavement while the rest of us battled it out on the wet grass. As soon as they got a few more people onto the road, we were done for!

And what's a party without a little B&E action? Unfortunately all the valuables have already been pilfered and any remaining good stuff has been claimed. If you're at Grammie's and you see something you like, check the back. If no one has written their name on it it, it's still up for grabs when she's done with it.

This was the first time we've used the tent and gotten rained on during the packing up. Ugh. I hate taking a wet tent down. It just doesn't pack up right. That might have something to do with the fact that I know I'm going to have to haul it all back out on the first nice day to dry it properly. We did manage to get it all in the car and home again so it's alllllllllll good!
