Mail Call!

Woohoo! I love coming home to "delivery notice" slips in my mailbox! Yesterday we missed an important parcel so I picked it up today! The girls got a box of goodies for Halloween from Murray's parents and were pretty excited to tear into it!

This summer I heard this speaker on the family broadcast on our local radio station & was very interested in this doctor's methods! I got the book and loved his straightforward approach. One of his tips is: "B" doesn't happen until "A" is completed. This is one of my favourites that I was already doing & have a lot of success with. My kids ask for & to do lots of stuff every day but aren't always keen on doing jobs/chores/tidying up unless it's holding them back from something they want to do. They'd left lots of toys out in the living room so I told them that as soon as they cleared the floor, they could open their parcel. They didn't even blink but bolted for the living room and whipped that room into shape like nobody's business. Now that "A" was done, they got their scissors out and ripped that package open!

At first glance, Honey was more than a little disappointed with the box.

H (look of incredulous disgust in place): She sent us a BOWL??????????????
S: well, maybe it's not a bowl & she just used that box? Sometimes people do that!
H: no. it's JUST a bowl.
S: I don't think Nanny would send a bowl, let's open it anyway!
H: I'm not. It's going to be a bowl!

Luckily, Sweetie & Lovey were willing to take a chance on the deceptive packaging! They hit the jackpot. I was very impressed that Nanny didn't go overboard on candy at all & packed lots of fun into the parcel. They are in LOVE with their glitter gel pens, fancy cases, @&%$ sticky notes (I will GET you for that one!!, I'm saving them for the cottage HA!) dry erase & all the loot! Murray was thrilled to find a container of gummies and you know I wanted that awesome hairbrush!! They played with their new stationery for quite awhile, making notes and drawing on the newspaper packaging. I believe I even saw a sticky somewhere that said "Lab Girls" :)))
In other news, Lovey had a spectacular dismount off the slide on Monday which ended in a not so spectacular landing :( Her wrist must have gotten bent underneath her when she fell. It was sore and slightly swollen but she was able to move and bend all parts of her arm. It hurt and was probably overextended or maybe sprained but not broken so we decided to ice it and avoid an 8 hour visit to the ER! It hurt quite a bit on Monday night but was feeling better yesterday and more so today. She's enjoying the sling & the attention that it brings though!
