Things I've learned about tempered glass
Ever wonder just how much abuse those glass shelves in your fridge can take? Well, the other day I learned that it cannot withstand a 2 foot free fall from a 1kg bottle of Cheez Wheez (well that's what it's called around here). Smash-ola! The good news is that it breaks really nicely. Maybe that's what tempered means? Anyway, no splinters or shards, it was all nice and chunky and pebbly. It was much easier to pick it out of the broccoli, carrots, oranges, kiwis etc this way. I was almost afraid to call & see how much a replacement would be but for $25 and a week's wait, we can get a new one. A valuable lesson learned. In the meantime, we're getting used to reaching into the vegetable crisper to get out the water jug!
