We were invited to a skating party this weekend! It was soooo much fun! Lovey's friend from school & Irish dancing invited us and everyone was excited to go.
We stopped at Uncle Ralph's on the way so Lovey could work on some piano. Weazie needs a few hours of music volunteering for her next level/grade. Lovey's always picking out tunes on the keys at home so when Uncle Ralph asked if anyone would be interested in trying out some lessons, we signed her up! Sweetie was interested but wanted to know if she haaaaaaaaaaaaad to. I said she didn't. Well, then she wanted to know if she could quit anytime. I said she could. "ok, I'll do it then". Fear of commitment much???? Lovey was in for over half an hour & then Sweetie went in but she had lost interest by then and bailed out after 15 minutes LOL so much for that! Lovey is really enjoying it though and has already learned how to play Joy to the World so she's quite pleased with herself!
We headed to our next destination and had barely cracked the van doors open when Lovey's friend, Acorn came flying out and we heard a delighted screech of "Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!!!!!!!!!!". Acorn had set her kitchen timer for an hour and a half, waiting for it to countdown to arrival time and had been hoping we'd be very early. Obviously she's not familiar with our MO and the fact that we are almost never early and barely make it anywhere on time. This day we were right on schedule however and I was glad we were since she had obviously been waiting for us to arrive!
The potluck supper was yummy! The kids ate their mandatory teaspoon sized "meal" portion and then filled up on crackers and cheese of course :) Then we laced up and hit the ice. They have THE best skating pond I have ever seen! There were 3 families and that made for 16 people and we had tonnes of room! Even the baby went for a spin in his exersaucer! We skated from 7 til about 9pm and none of the kids were ready to go inside. There were lights strung in the trees and one overhead lighting rig so it was bright enough to see but not glaringly so. We went around and around, everyone had lovely rosy cheeks and big smiles plastered on their faces. I don't think we could have stayed late enough to suit any of them! Even after 2 hours, the only way we got them to give it up was the lure of hot chocolate waiting inside. After that, it was almost 10pm and they still weren't ready to go home but we had to pull the plug.
There were definitely ready for bed by the time we got home! It was another late night but well worth the fun and memories!
